I turned on the afternoon show last night on my way home from work for the first time in about 2 weeks. It lasted half of one segment. Griffiths is the most uninformed guy on the radio and he has nothing intelligent to say. I miss sports talk radio but I just couldn't do it. On the bright side I am getting re-acquainted with my itunes library.
Can someone (Monsieux Kirsh) please tell me why the hell we have an oiler lifer spouting audio diarrhea all over our airwaves? everythime he speaks, i think somewhere in latvia a kitten gets punched in the stomach. He must be one hell of a guy off air, otherwise I have no idea how he's been hired.
I emailed Kirsh this thread. Hopefully he reads it and realizes how fans they are losing

Yesterday Bryn was apparently quoting Peter Maher (misquoting I think) talking about how if you weren't in a playoff spot by American thanksgiving that you'd only have a 50% chance of making the playoffs. And Bryn is like, "wow that is a really telling stat isn't it". Eric Francis is like, "that sounds really high, don't you mean 15%?"
Either Bryn misquoted Peter Maher twice or misunderstood him. Either way it lacked any insight and was obviously wrong.

I think Peter mentioned that for only last year in the western conference only, off the top of my head.
Not just because of Bryn, but my Fan960 radio listening is now limited to pre-and-post Flames games and that's it. I used to have it on all day. Other than Steinberg and Lafitt, I really don't feel anyone else compelling enough to listen to.
I had been following this thread when it was still getting bumped just to see if there had been any positive changes on the afternoon show as I'd gotten to the point I just couldn't listen anymore. I assume the bumps have stopped as most of us have stopped listening...I tuned in for about an hour this aft' and thought Bryn seemed somewhat less annoying, but his "insights" were still very much lacking to say the least. I'm not one to call for someone's job, but as a paying advertiser on The Fan I really hope Rogers does the right thing, finds Bryn a new home within the organization, and gets some quality back on in the afternoon. P. Stein is fine - he needs a partner.
I hardly listen to the afternoon show but I wouldn't call Bryn "unlistenable", he's just not that great. Even during Flames games it seems obvious he hasn't hit his stride and isn't 100% comfortable yet.
Although I'm sure some of you will declare that's because he never will hit his stride and he sucks. I've only heard about 2 hours of the afternoon show in the last 2 months and that has mostly been on the best of on the weekends.
He never will sound comfortable. For better or worse you are listening to who he is. The only real difference between now and his 7 year stint on the Team in Edmonton is he doesn't have the confidence that being program director gives.

Or a Yukon Jack wannabe to make him look better.
