If a lack of a #1 center is supposed to be hampering Iggy why, when he has one, is he having one of his worse seasons?

Have you seen Iginla playing since he was put on a line with Jokinen?
They are two of the hottest players in the league since it happened, have you been paying attention?

Did you seriously just compare Sven to Sidney Crosby?
Talk about over-rating our prospects.
/sarcasm.

CsInMyBlood already addressed it, but Iggy had a very slow start. For the last 20 games or so Iggy and Jokinen have been two of the hottest players in the league.
A major difference with this hot streak, is that our top line is not just focussed on getting points. Although both Iggy and Jokinen have been getting points, they've both somehow learned to backcheck like champions. Not regularly a skill players pick up in their mid-30s, but I'm not complaining.

I hope he doesn't play the rest of the tournament. I want him healthy for the flames next year.

What a ridiculous comment. The best possible thing for Svens development is to immediately be healthy and continue to play in a tournament that is of the highest possible calibre for his age group. A lot of these games move at NHL pace because of some of the talent on display.

Yeah, always best to look at the small sample size at the expense of the larger one.

...because I totally meant it that way...
I meant I hope that if he is concussed that he stats out for a while and gets better.

Sorry. Just seemed so definitive given we don't even know the status of his injury.

Seriously, wtf is going on these days with the concussions? Is there some guy just going around taking a baseball to players heads during the night time or what?
Holy crap.

I think it's mostly the raised awareness. It might also be that there's less pressure for guys to pretend their okay.
It's possibly also a bit of an overreaction period. (Which I think is perfectly fine, because finding the right level of caution isn't easy and usually requires an overcautious period.)

Bartschi confirmed to have a "light concussion".
http://www.edmontonjournal.com/sport...711/story.html
Switzerland coach Celio Manuele said Bartschi was suffering from "a light concussion."
"He got a hit in the zone. He wasn't prepared for the hit. Now the doctors try to check on him.
"They showed it yesterday. He was kind of in the middle zone, he turned around and the guy came from the bench and hit him'' - indicating the head/neck area.
"We don't think he'll play the next game. But they could decide on the return-to-play rules. Normally, it's a five-day rules. So we'll see what's going to happen.'' If the worst, as expected, comes to pass, there'll be zero time available for self-pity.
"We've got a lot of leaders,'' said Manuele. "He's our big guy but now the team has to react.''
