Default My biggest pet peeve

Sorry about the useless thread, but I absolutely HATE automated telephone services.

They are so annoying. To do this press 1, to do that press 2, blah blah blah.

I hate it when I have to go through all that crap just to talk to a real human.

And the worst part is when you spend like 5 minutes listening to all the stupid options, and you finally get to what you want, they tell you, "Sorry we are now closed, our hours are 8:30-4:30."

Those things just **** me off.

End of rant.

lol... same as anyone else, ask if he needs help? there shouldn't really be a difference in etiquette. Shouldnt be worried about dumping someone out of their chair, not unless you were going to grab it and jerk it back really fast.

Generally anyone disabled would like to be treated the same as any able-bodied person.

Did they happen to mention if the flunkies get a bonus for most addresses and phone numbers collected? That's my pet peeve. Phone some business or service to ask a simple question and they want your phone number or your address right off the bat.

Me: Hi, do you sell ink cartridges for Canon XJ900000 printers?
Customer Service: Address and phone number please.

Yesterday I returned a 12$ item to the grocery store and it was like a visit to an adoption agency. I had to explain my motivations, fill out a form with my name, address, phone number, and then sign it at the bottom. Hopefully there is some guy at Safeway Headquarters right now poring over a map of Calgary and trying to find my house on 69 Balls Street.

I guess it doesn't bother many other people because they are always kinda stunned when I say "no you can't have my address" or "why do you need my phone number to answer this question".

People who stand in the hallways of UofC and don't move, 3 abreast during class breaks, when 1000 people are trying to walk through it. (Science Theaters are horrible for this)

-Slow walkers
-People who eat loudly, or chew with their mouth open
-People standing in hallways blocking things up
-Spelling the word 'tonight' as 'tonite'!!!

I know there's plenty more but I can't think of them right now...

Slow Cashiers.

Those people could learn a thing or two if they worked at a grocery store for a week.

-Parents who ignore their kids in public places, allowing them to bother everyone else there.
-Guys immediately assuming that because I am a girl, I only like hockey because I like to check out the players.
-Guys in bars that assume that because you are in a bar, they can grope you at their own free will.
-People who talk during the movie
-People at fast food restaurants that don't clear their trays, but rather leave them on the table for someone else to get...even though they usually have to pass a garbage on their way out.

I could go on, there are tons...

good one. I hate those lazy pricks too.

My pet peeve are idiot solicitors who ring my doorbell when it clearly says "no peddlers or solicitors" on my mailbox. It's my polite way of saying "**** off", please don't make me actually say it to you.

I really hate the voice-prompted automated services (I don't even know what you really call those things). I'd rather 'press 1, then press 2' than have a one-sided conversation with a machine that keeps coming back with "I'm sorry, I didn't get that. Can I help you add money to your account?"... "If you want to add money to your account, say account balance." ... "I'm sorry, I didn't get that. Did you say account balance?" Argh!!!

Also, cell phones going off in the middle of class. It's rude, and disruptive. If you can't live with it off for an hour (and I understand that sometimes, there may be reasons why you can't turn it off), at least put it on Silent or Vibrate.

My biggest pet peeve while at a Flames game is people who don't wait for a stop in play to go down an aisle. Example going from the 300's to the main concourse. WAIT FOR A WHISTLE

I went to a place to fix their computers becaue the guy who runs their phone lines works closely with our company and since he broke his clients network, he called us to fix it for him.

Well I got the network up again, but their internet was down. I called Telus to see what was the matter the the phone guy grabbed the phone from me and said "**** **** **** Bitch Mother ****ing ****less ****" Then an operator came on the line within seconds and we got awesome service from Telus.

Apparently there is a filter in the system that will immediatley escalate the importance of the call if you use some "trigger" words.

I once complained about this and a couple of people jumped all over me b/c I should expect stuff like that to happen. Apparently you should just stay home like I was told to do. Just because there are rules and guidelines that you are supposed to adhere to, and probably do, doesn't mean that you should expect everybody else to be considerate and do adhere to the same rules too. I don't get it or like it but apparently that is they way it is supposed to be. ?

I've known people that do this on purpose. One friend's father is a union man and won't clear his own tables as he figures if you do that for them, you'll put a man/woman out of their job.

Closely related to this is people at supermarkets who ditch frozen or perishables in a bin next to the checkout, letting them rot. Why don't you just step on them...either way, no one's eating them afterwards...

Stupid people that live in condos....

And there are plenty of them. Three dumpsters in the garbage room here, and everyone puts their garbage in the same one until it overflows. Well, at least I always have somewhere to put mine.

Also, how do you run into the garage door before it gets open?

- people that don't know how to merge... often coming to a complete stop
- slow drivers
- people who don't use their signal light
- people who take forever when the light turns green
- people that can't park between the lines

Exactly. It's called MANNER MODE for a reason.

I had a prof who said he'd answer your cell phone if he heard it ringing in class, however, no one ever tested that theory.
