Cheap Windows 7 software
So I was looking at buying Windows 7 Home Premium for my new MacBook Air (Boot Camp).
I found a link here to a trustpayjsc.com site, on another thread, but that site no longer works.
I was wondering if anyone has a good site to buy this software from that is legit?
The cheapest I found was an OEM version at MemEx, which I think will work?
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX32996
Anyways, if anyone has a place they have used, and trust please let me know. Thanks!

Calgarypuck and tech forums are a good place to hang out and ask if anybody has extra keys. A lot of students or IT guys with extra keys and licenses that let them go for cheap. My copies of Windows 7 never cost over $40 and they are all legitimate.

Heh... I've been looking for the same, actually. Except in my case, I'm actually looking for 2 upgrade licenses (I have a couple of Vista licenses from those MSDNAA agreements that H&L was referencing -- although technically, if you read the license agreements, their conditions on use are pretty restrictive. And the cheap work-at-home license Win7 that I have access to is only 32-bit). So far the best I've been able to find is the family pack which includes 3 upgrade licenses, but of course we only have use for two. If you find any good deals, I'd love to hear about it :-)

Any time you buy a Windows 7 "key" from someone at a steep discount, I would bet hard money that it is either a subcription key, from MSDN, from an OEM sticker already on (or removed from) another machine, or otherwise not actually licensed for the machine/use you have planned for it.
That said it will probably work and pass Genuine Validation, even if it is not a legit license.
I would rather buy an OEM copy from MemEx rather than deal with the possibilities of such a scenario again.

Sorry to bump such an old thread, however... I'm looking to install Windows 7 on my PC (currently running Windows XP). Any recommendations on where to acquire? While I'm fairly computer literate, operating systems are not too familiar for me. Obviously, like anyone, the cheaper the better!
Thanks in advance!

Did you attend UofC or any university with access to MS Dreamspark? If so, you can download it and other free software.

I didn't, unfortunately. That would've been handy!
And thanks for the ME link, I was just hoping there might be a cheaper option out there that I wasn't aware of.

How old is your computer that it is running XP? Win7 came out 6-7 years ago, and Vista a couple of years before that? Just wondering if it may be worth just buying a new PC with an OEM license.

It's a Dell PC from 2007. It was rarely used and I just inherited it. You could be right though, a new PC might be the best way to go.
