I think I'd take the Obama criticism a little more seriously if it wasn't a witch hunt from the day he took office. When the smear compaigns ranging from the ridiculous didn't work (birthers, questions about his religion), he is now being blamed for problems that already existed when he took office. All Obama did was lift the rug that everything was swept under.

Are you kidding me, Obama had a higher level of goodwill among the voters then any president since probably Regan or Kennedy.

He pissed it away, not any smear campaign.

He didn't piss it away, yanks have a magic belief that their politicians can fix everything even though they don't trust them, it was Obama's bad luck to be in office through the years that americans realised they are broke and mostly owned by China and that there is no magic fix to get them out of the mess.

He had goodwill from the voters, not the lawmakers.

That's a big difference.

Are you kidding me? Seriously? This is a joke right? From day one the right has waged a smear campaign the likes of which we've never seen. The birther movement, calling him muslim (the fact that this is used to smear speaks volumes of the people behind it) and characterizing every policy as if it's full blown socialism regardless of reality are just a few examples of what he's faced.

Obama did little to help the unemployed in the States in his first 2 years other than increase unemployment weeks. He spent that time and political capital working on Obamacare. He bailed out the banks and invested in GM. Obama then invested in green energy which so far has produced no benefits. Obama gave money to States which protected union jobs at least until the money runs out. Very little infrastructure spending was done which would also be temparary but, at least leave a benefit behind for the tax payer.

A year ago last November the Republicans won the House with tea party candidates who promised to balance the budget. Obama is on pace to spend more in his first 4 years than Bush did in 8. Never before has America seen multiple trillion dollar increases in debt so quickly.

Since January of 2011 Obama has been doing everything in his power to gain more access to borrowed money. He has to the Republican's shame had some success. The debt limit was raised in the summer and is about to be raised again.

Obama has been basically campaigning since the spring with a message that Congress is what is holding him back from fixing everything. He blames them for not letting him tax the rich more. He blames them for not letting him have more money to stimulate the economy. He blames; he blames; he blames. The question is will American's believe him and ignore the 15 trillion in debt his government helped create.

Donald Trump Dog Whistles Another Fact-Free Racist Conspiracy About Obama
http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/20...bama-video.php

On Wednesday, Trump tweeted his endorsement of the latest bit of holiday cheer from the extremist ant-Obama right. As the story goes on more than one conservative blog this week, Obama declined to offer an official statement marking Christmas, but made sure to get one out celebrating Kwanzaa.

This tale is as blatantly racial as it is demonstrably false, and it comes in the grand tradition of accusing Obama of supporting Ramadan over Easter and the old Trump favorite that Obama got into the Ivy League because he’s not white, not because he’s smart.

The trouble with the story about Christmas and Kwanzaa is that it’s 100% untrue.

He has spent more money to spend than any President before him. The lawmakers gave him that money. You might buy into Obama's line that he failed because Congress stopped him at every term but, I doubt the American public will be so blind.

Obama has only had to deal with a Republican majority since the spring and he should of dealt with them by changing direction. They were clearly voted in with the promise to control spending and balance the budget. The fact that they won in historical numbers should have been a clue to Obama that his spend free ways were disliked and he needed to change. Instead of working with them he has begun campaigning against them.

I blame Obama's spending for the revenue short fall. The rich pay a lot of taxes already. They shouldn't be burdened more because the government can't stop spending. Remember it isn't just the millionares he is targeting.

If you want Bush's tax cuts to expire then let them but, don't let Obama imagine the revenue that will create over ten years and spend it today. That is what he is looking for.

Obama hasn't even passed a budget since he came to power. He thinks Congress is there as his personal piggy bank.

Obama has created a lot of his own problems, he gave bailout money to banks with no conditions only to watch them use that money to give out more bonuses.

He gave stimulus money to people that supported him in his campaigns only to for example take the money and run.

Everything he does seems to point to his desire to get elected and not do anything to help now.

He sold out on Obama care and created just as big of a mess.

Its great to say that he got tied down by a republican majority, but there was a reason why there is now a republican majority.

His treatment of the Keystone Pipeline for example is cynical as best as he wants to delay the creation of a lot of jobs and secured energy sources until after the next election so he can turn to his voter base and proclaim that he's captain environment.

On a foreign policy front besides the death of OBL he's appeared weak and indecisive on the world stage, he acted like a spoiled 5 year old with a major ally in Israel.

As much as people want to think that there is a smear campaign that has caused his tumble in approval, he's not dealing with anything that past presidents on both side of the floor have dealt with. His approval rate has tumbled because in his first three years he has very precious little to show in terms of positive strides forward in key areas like the economy and unemployment and the massive budget cuts required.

He makes a pretty speech, but that only takes you so far, even George Bush Jr (ug) seems to have been better at creating consensus on both sides of the floor

The conversation is nicer when it is supported by general facts and not anecdotes.

1. The bank bailout was enacted under President Bush.

2. I work in the healthcare sector and would be interested in your factual views about how Obamacare has made it a mess. Especially since it has, for the most part, not been enacted yet. Although we're already seeing benefits in insurance coverage. But please, do provide your specific comments on how it has created a mess.

3. On foreign policy, this weak president has basically made the world his drone playground. Israel still gets everything they want; the whole he-hates-Israel deal is just a myth. He has assassinated foreign and US citizens just on the suspicion of "terrorist" activity. If anything, his foreign policy has been brazen and disregardful of human life; but it's not weak.

I would be open to substantive examples that back up your claim. An anecdote here and there is not a meaningful sample to draw a conclusion.

I don't think I will live long enough to see a functional, responsible US government. Partisanship is endemic and the only voice being heard is from those who shout the loudest and they are almost exclusively those from the lunatic fringe.

Obama has been a massive disappointment, but honestly, who could have done anything with the mess of a legacy he inherited?

You didn't answer the question. You said Obama blames congress for not allowing him to increase taxes on the rich, well who the else would he blame since that's who is preventing it from happening. Whether or not you agree with that tax policy is a completely different issue.

C'mon, that's just pure ignorance. Was there a big movement of people questioning whether Carter was born in the US? Was Bush accused of being a muslim at every turn? Was Reagan compared to Hitler?

Its more like, how could he have done anything with the crap he has to deal with in Congress.

Every single one of them are to blame. Obama included. I get it that he isn't completely at fault, and for the most part he is a rookie in this whole mess, but he hasn't really tried to be a strong leader either.

But on a scale of 1-10 for who is at fault, he is probably at the 3 point, while Congress is at 12.

Not sure if a tax that would only generate $50 billion per year is a solution to anything.

The tax system needs a complete overhaul. And spending needs to be cut back.

But when you run a $100 billion dollar monthly deficit, you can't possibly expect to raise taxes fast enough to combat it, ESPECIALLY in the middle of a recession.

And somehow he turned that $200 million/day into a trillion dollar deficit. He has spent more money per year than any other President.

I mean we can sit here all day and blame Bush, Clinton and the rest for problems they DID create, but that won't fix anything.

Obama has not even attempted to fix the spending problem. $3 trillion dollar deficit reduction over 10 years? Seriously? At the rate the US is spending money right now, that won't even make a dent.
