Just thought I would give a quick bump and update.

I am now living in Turks and Caicos for a couple months before heading over to Asia in April. Feel free to follow my blog.

Good idea. I wish you the best on it.
I would say, if you want a broader variety of people to read your site you should try to make something useful of your posts. Tips on great places discovered, critical reviews etc. Beyond just the stories, share what practical lessons you learn along the way.

You have a simple layout that is easy to navigate......that's all that really matters.

Now - go get some content (adventure) and be reasonably diligent about posting regular updates (commit to Travel Story Tuesdays or Food Fridays or whichever).

You're gonna do great kid, have fun.

It's a good site. Easy to navigate. Good spacing, not too cluttered. Good luck on your travels! And I agree with Johnny, helpful tips and what you learned would bring more people in.

Yes, that is the point. I am going to be adding more informative posts once I start my trip. I have about 20-30 posts written on my desktop already.

Thanks though! Appreciate the feedback!

Those are two awesome ideas! I'm going to build something off this. Thanks.

Nice blog!

I have a love/hate relationship with my blog. On one hand it gets me to take more pictures so I can put up new content. On the other hand if I'm not regularly posting to it nobody comes to visit.

So my advice is to post often, and keep it interesting.

Maybe OLN will come knocking? :-)

What is your blog? I've started to dive deep into the blog world the last year. People take freelance writers and photographers for granted, even though this is where so much of the new talent is being found.

One blogger who I follow everyday just got a book deal for one of his e-books from a major publishing company. The internet is a crazy world, full of interesting people.

However this is more or less just a passion, I am not in it to make money off it, its fun if people are reading what I put down. Yet if I ever have a chance to help make funds for travelling, by all means will I.

I still strongly disagree with this quote from your blog (which you had discussed on CP as well)

Quote:
I was born and raised in a culture driven by money and materialistic items, otherwise known as North America. More specifically Calgary, Canada
Imo, there's huge difference between travelling and exploring other places around the world, and actually settling down and becoming part of any place in the world, long term.

When it comes down to it, most places on earth are money and materialistic driven, you just don't notice it when your constantly moving and seeing the things the you want to see and experiencing the things you want to experience in each place you visit.

For example, if I travelled to Alberta (and wasn't from here, obviously), I might have this to say....

Just got back from Alberta, the people are so friendly there. I spent yesterday hiking through Banff National park, followed by a great night of camping, where a bunch of locals sang songs and drank the night away.

The day before that, I hooked up with some people who took me out mountain biking in K-country. Everyone was so care free and nature driven, and seemed to enjoy the little things in life. It was such a slow pace and happy go lucky atmosphere there, which was a huge change from (insert home country) where everyone is driven by money and materialistic things.

I am not stopping you from disagreeing with me. Every person has a different outlook on life, and what makes them happy.

Of course most places in the world are driven by money... But you know whats amazing... Finding the places and people who are not driven by money, and a materialistic life style. There are lots of people and places out there who enjoy living a simple life. I live a pretty simple life, and do some amazing things... Some is an understatement.

If you follow my blog, i'll slowly show you my beliefs of travelling and how I prefer to live.

..and in response to the bolded, I would argue that there are many places and experiences like that in Canada and North America. So I guess it's just your generalizing of Canada and North America as money driven and materialistic, when most of the world is that way.

But, we'll agree to disagree, and I really respect your take on living a fulfilling life, and wish I could bring myself to break away like that, and I will definitly follow along.

Cheers.

Agree to disagree... Sounds good...

And yes there is so many places and experiences like it in North America. But I have been in North America for 25 years...

However I don't want to spend the other 2/3 of my life living here and doing the same thing until I am old. In the moment I except to live in Canada again in the future. When, where, who knows... I am a blank page, seeing where the wind takes me. Doing what makes me happy, not living by any ones rules. Nothing is holding me back from leaving the grid and doing my own thing.

As of last night I have two boxes in my parents storage room, and my backpack and a long board. I have no other possessions, other then what I am taking with me. I have no debt, and no other obligations. Life is an adventure right.

Damn, reading that makes me jealous. I will wake up tomorrow and work for eight hours, mostly day-dreaming about not being at work. Then I'll probably stay an extra hour or so to tack on overtime hours to pay for all the crap I feel like I need.

Then head back to my cookie cutter house in a ridiculously crowded and clustered suburb community with no room to breathe.

Oh well, such is life.

Good luck on your journey!
