I was at the Dome this evening and had Sven scored the roof would have been blown off. I wish we could have given him a great welcoming. Crowd was on the SUI side.

Yeah, I agree. I wasn't going to say anything and wait for Moon to post and be the downer.

I only saw the game against Canada but it wasn't his fault he couldn't do much. He really has no support out there. There's only so much you can do when the team around you is vastly inferior to the other team.

I also found Bartschi to be fairly underwhelming in last night's game, and I am hoping that Knalus's assessment is correct:

A team that cannot pass very well, but played with a ton of energy.
I thought that Bartschi should have been the best player on the Suisse team, and he clearly did not play like it last night. Maybe it is a matter of just feeling out of place, and needing time to feel comfortable with this group?

I thought he played okay, there were some great opportunities generated by the swiss when he was on the ice and he made some pretty good passes. He also wired a great shot through defensive coverage that just missed the top shelf. But in all I do agree that he looked a bit out of place in general. Hopefully he can build some chemistry on his line as the games go on.

I like the kid a lot...but if he pulls a giveaway like he did last night, he wont be long for an NHL spot...lazy and careless and led directly to a goal against....hopefully just an aberration

I'm not really sure if he was on their #1 line. Not that anyone on that line was doing that well, either. He kept trying to pass, but there wasn't any available pass options.

Anyone starting to feel that little twinge of concern that maybe Rattie really is the reason Sven looks so good?

If you have a twinge of concern over a one game performance you're going to put yourself in an early grave.

not really no

was at the game and watched him quite closely. He has a lot of skill I think- glimpses of it were evident, although I agree he made a poor play that led to the first Russian goal. I agree with the assessments that he is still looking to fit in a little on the team, but there were opportunties created when he was out there. The Swiss team did throw 40 shots at the Russians and he was still IMO one of their better offensive players. When you consider how other teams like Latvia and Finland (not to mention Denmark)fared against the big boys last night I think the Swiss team (and Bartschi) did ok

Carolina must like him too, since they picked him in the 4th round 103th overall in June.

I've watched Portland quite a bit this year, and from what I have seen Rattie is a one dimensional player. He is a definate scoring talent. However, he relies on someone setting him up to score. Bartchi is quite dynamic. He can skate quite well, shoot pass, hit. He has hockey smarts, both defensively and offensively.

On the Suisse team, from what I have seen, Sven is the offensive powehouse. I think that the transition from playmaker to overall offensive talent may take a bit, especially for his inexperience.

One game at the international junior level isn't a telling sign of how good a player will be.

Thought he showed some good speed and awareness from what I saw during the first period.

Tough when the other team is focused solely on shutting you down. Sven managed to set up a couple good chances, had a few nice moves too. I'm happy with what I've seen so far.

I'm not too concerned it was one game. I did miss a lot of the game, but I didn't notice Yakupov do anything particularly amazing either and he is supposed to be the next big thing. I could definitely have missed something though, without question. It could also be the fact that its one game...

Seems like Bartschi is the lone wolf as Mikael Granlund seems to be the lone wolf on team Finland.

flashes here and there but nothing remarkable.
