NOT a Merry Christmas for Mel Gibson
Robyn Gibson gets half of his estimated $850 million.
http://www.people.com/people/article...html?hpt=hp_t3
This is plain crazy.
Quote:
Because the couple didn't have a prenuptial agreement, Robyn, 55, was legally entitled to half of everything he earned during their marriage.
As for film residuals, Robyn is entitled to half of every future check Gibson receives for the rest of his life.

I'm thinking Tiger Woods feels like a lucky man only having to give up $100 million in his divorce

I think this is one instance where it's pretty fair that she gets half. It's not like she married him for the money and divorced 3 years later. 30 years of being married, seven kids together, then he starts losing his mind and going on drunken racist rants, then he starts cheating on her. I'd say half is fair. Just so happens that it's half a billion.

I'd kill to have an ex-wife that I could give $400MM to... I could probably get by on the other $400MM...

He's going to have to downgrade to a G-IV from a G-V.

They didn't have a prenuptial agreement, but simply marrying someone doesn't entitle you to half of their assets upon divorce. Generally you're only entitled to half of the money earned or assets acquired as marital property during the marriage. Since, Gibson would've been worth very little when they got married his wife got half. That obviously wasn't the case with McCartney though who was a billionaire before he married Mills.

Thought this had to do with him finding out he was actually a Jew.
Some day, some day.

Oh man, how will he EVER survive with $425 million.
Good grief, let's not start sulking about multi-millionaires who control 90% of the world's economy.

The $850 million will likely get passed down to the seven children anyway.
