Interesting trade but I am puzzled why a rebuilding team would trade away a first rounder?

im thinking they had to deal the 1st rounder (denvers which is likely to be mid 20s) in exchange for getting Davis and his expiring contract. Hopefully this opens up roooms to re-sign Mike James, and a Free Agent or two

This makes some sense. Depends on which pick it is though. If it is this years (raps pick), it is a huge mistake. Currently that would work out to the #4th overall pick.

If it is the other Nuggets pick acquired in the Carter deal. Perfect.

*edit*

Yep, it is the Nuggets pick, confirmed via the Star. Great trade.

I think it’s a great deal. True they give up a 1st but 16 million in cap room is priceless. Plus they have more then enough draft picks last year and this year to help rebuild. Now they need to get some veteran leadership to help guide the youngsters. Hopefully Davis can put in some quality minutes at center and not cry too much about playing in Canada.

All the draft picks in the world won't make a lick of difference if the Raptors continue their hit and miss drafting. Arujo. Bosh. Villaneuva. One of these things is not like the other...

Good news is that moronic dip**** Babcock is gone now, so no more "Who needs to draft talent? I'll just pick this piece of crap that was slated for the 5th round as the #6 overall pick"
Raps may actually get someone GOOD this year, like Bosh (who was drafted before that moron Babcock took over).

I hope the Raps get a way better GM then Bacock. Whoever hired Babcock made a major mistake. It shows as well.

I get your point and all, but basketball does only have two rounds.

Villanueva has been good as well - better than expected - so it's not as if Babcock did everything wrong. Just most everything.
