They don't have to worry about Roethlisberger rushing the ball, i'd say the lead is pretty safe now after that unsportsmanlike "leaping" penalty and touchdown.

Best game the 49ers have played in a while.

Niners defense was impressive tonight. If you buy the notion that the formula the Chiefs used to beat Green Bay could work again, the Niners see a team who can control the ball on offence, not turn it over, and pressure the QB. Their issue is that they'll likely have to get by the Saints first.

I found this amusing this morning:
Quote:
Do you see that picture? It's not a Photoshop, it's not some Criss Angel optical illusion or anything like that. That is Joe Webb faking a handoff to Christian Ponder.
What. . .in the sweet blue hell. . .is the purpose of this insanity?
Does anybody in America think that Christian Ponder is actually going to take a handoff and attempt a power running play up the middle? For crying out loud, the guy gets hit frequently enough.

Big upset, it will be interesting to see who gets the #1 pick. I figured the Colts had it locked up.

I know if all 3 (Colts, Rams, Vikes) finish at 2-14 the Colts win the tie breaker on SOS and pick 1st
but their last game is at jacksonville, neither of those teams are any good
and isn't it in the Jags best interest to 'lay down' and avoid putting the best prospect in 15 years in their division...

Minnesota and St Louis both have young first round QBs. I'd think they'd both go elsewhere if they are awarded the first pick.

Nice to get some wins. They still have the #1 pick as of the games after this week.
Also, Peyton Manning will be the starting quarterback if healthy for next season. Jim Irsay confirmed that tonight. It would be great to get Luck and groom him into a starting QB. I want to select Luck but if it was worst case scenario, it wouldn't be so bad if Manning could be healthy for 3-4 more years. Colts defense is the main area of concern and there are some real solid players available if the Colts did not get the #1 pick.

The Rams wouldn't take Luck with Bradford there, but they would 100% trade the pick and get a ton for it
Vikings would take him, they aren't dumb, and move Ponder for other draft picks

I saw the interview, but you are not going to select Luck and have him on the bench, every NFL writer I have seen has said so. Irsay is never going to put Peyton Manning on the trading block because then he loses all his leverage and it he's not going to throw Manning under the bus on national tv in december
Manning has 3-4 years left I agree but if the Colts take Luck it won't be with them, Luck will be starting next year though with whomever drafts him

Just from a franchise standpoint, like you said the Colts need a ton of help and Manning's ability has been masking a full scale rebuild that is needed
They move Manning for draft picks and a build around Luck and they are a lot closer to being a super bowl winning team than sitting Luck and playing Manning with a team who has shown this year that they aren't very good and likely aren't going to contend in the next year or two

I think the Colts take Luck AND keep Manning....it only makes sense imo.
Manning isnt going to want to move, and Polian is loyal as well as a very shrewd football guy.
Take Luck, let him sit behind Manning for a couple seasons and as insurance in case Manning doesnt come back healthy or gets hurt again...and that team will be SB contenders for the long haul.
Last time a highly touted QB was taken and didnt start for a couple years? Aaron Rodgers. That worked out OK.
Remember they have a rookie cap now that doesnt force teams to start guys right away...and i think we start to see the trend now where guys are brought along much more slowly because of it.

St Louis better take luck if we get 1st overall. We can ship Bradford off for picks.
