I dont know where else to put this, but holy crap, how about Mario Gomez?

16 Goals in 16 games for Bayern in the Bundesliga.
6 Goals in 5 games for Bayern in the Champion's League.
5 goals in 4 games for Germany in Euro Qualifying.

Dude is having a hell of a season.

Manchester United could return to this season's Champions League if the Swiss Football Association fails to comply with Fifa and punish FC Sion. Sion were thrown out of the Europa League for fielding ineligible players in their match against Celtic.
The Swiss FA has until 13 January to act and Fifa has threatened to suspend Switzerland and their club sides.
If the ban took effect, FC Basel would be ejected from the Champions League and United could be reinstated.

That ...... would be just ...... terrible.

What the hell does any of this have to do with FIFA?

The conspiracy is GLOBAL, didn't you know?

I believe it is because Sion signed players whilst under a FIFA ban.

From the link in my earlier quote.
Quote:
Sion signed five players while the club were still under a transfer ban imposed by Fifa after breaching rules over the signing of Egypt goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary three years ago.
Quote:
"It's just that there are cases where Fifa want to take unilateral decisions by force rather than by just means. "Uefa approved the list of players we submitted, but now, because of pressure from Fifa, they're trying to find justification for making us forfeit the tie.

Haha! That would be hilarious! The pity reinstatement. If this happened it would reinforce every stereotype that United get their way all the time, they'd never be able to live it down.

Totally, as I said, the conspiracy has gone GLOBAL.

I'd be as embarrassed as a 1992 Dane.

Unreal.

It is a Uefa tournament and what goes on in Switzerland should stay in Switzerland.

Sion got kicked out of the Europa Cup, surely that is enough?

Frick it, let United back in and while they're at it, maybe they could figure out a way to fix it so Real meet Barca in the Final.

FIFA is involved as the original dispute was intercontinental, over the signing of an Egyptian goalie which the Egyptian club complained about.

Following investigation of said dispute, it was found that they broke regulations and FIFA imposed a one year transfer embargo.

Sion went ahead and signed players whilst under the ban.

Since then, Celtic and all of Sion's opponents have played their games against them under protest. The only reason why the players were/are still playing in the Swiss league is that Sion sucessfully argued that the embargo had ended and got a court ruling from a Swiss Civil court to allow the players to play. A big FU to FIFA, you could say.

On Thursday they lost their appeal against UEFA decision to kick them out of and for reinstatement to the Europa league at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

That their chairman is a bit of a loose cannon doesn't really help them. i.e. calling for Platini to be jailed for failing to restore them to the competition after a local court ordered that UEFA should do so.

So now, FIFA gets to bring the hammer down. They meet with the Swiss FA, are demanding that Sion lose ALL their points for this season for ineligible players, or else .....

No doubt the Swiss FA will comply as they have a international against Argentina coming up and Basel's interests to protect not to mention they could care less about Sion, given their attempt to continue to circumvent the rules and ignore UEFA's ruling in favour of a civil court.

Man U don't get back in, but nonetheless the conspiracy theories roll on.

The bit I don't understand is why did UEFA accept the registration of the players prior to the Celtic game. They felt bound by the Swiss civil court's ruling also?

Oh no! If they let United back in I would hope that United win it. It would be the biggest farce in history and it would be United's honour to own it.

Hopefully they get back in and win it with an offside goal in extra time after equalizing with a penalty in the 7th minute of added time.

Make it happen.

the Swiss FA will penalize Scion the however many points they earned in the league

only way it doesn't is if they get a large manila envelope postmarked from Trafford

Obviously a huge conspiracy by the Swiss FA to keep Man U out of the CL.

AC up 2-0 on Arsenal before half time, Arsenal are having a real hard time dealing with AC. Its going to be tough for Robin to score 3 or more today.

Arsenal are done. I cant see them overturning a 4 goal deficit on the home leg. Especially not without their saviour Thierry Henry.

It shouldnt really matter though, arent the English teams so far ahead in the quotient rankings that theres no real danger?

That said, its nice to see other leagues progressing.

oh ya, that's never going to be in danger, they would need 5 or 6 straight years like this

just used to usually at least 2 English teams in the SF, and 3/4 in the QF

1 year ago at this point 3/4 went through, knocked out the italian champs and Arsenal beat Barca at home and almost in the tie
