Do we know for sure that it happened at 3:30? When I read about it yesterday, all the police were saying was that they were called at 3:30, but were unsure when the shootings had happened.

I know in small town Idaho, the gas station is the hang out for late night gatherings/food as only that and the bars are open.

Most guys in their lifetime have been dumped, rejected or even humiliated by the opposition sex. But most guys don't just pick up a guy and shoot people. Why did this happen?

That's definitely possible but I'd argue it would be offset by two issues...they transported two to the Foothills...meaning that the one who died atleast had a chance of survival, which would imply to me atleast that it was somewhat quickly after it happened.

Obviously but come on these are guys who can sometimes be egotistical. I don't think they thought the guy following them was planning a mass murder suicide. Heck, guys don't even like asking for directions in front of girls. I know the first thing I'd do if I was being followed would be to pull over and see what the problem is. When they found out they were in extreme danger it was probably too late to call police.

I believe the RCMP station is a half-block away from the 7/11. I have a suspicion that Cow's theory holds a lot of water...

Friends told CTV News that Stepple was the target and was shot by her jealous ex-boyfriend in a fit of rage.

Friends say Stepple met Derek Jensen at a Lethbridge nightclub in 2010.

"She would tell me he's very controlling. She would say things like, I'm not allowed to do anything without him. He wants to know where I am and what I'm doing," said Claire Sullivan.

Friends say the pair apparently broke up a few months ago, but was still living together.

On Wednesday night, Stepple agreed to drive her co-worker Shayna Conway, Conway's boyfriend Tanner Craswell and a friend, Mitch MacLean to the Calgary airport.

The three were heading home for the holidays and met with friends, before they left, to celebrate Craswell's birthday.

Friends say that is when they ran into Jensen.

"Saw her and lost it, lost his mind and pushed her out of a chair and he was like yelling. Then we left, he was phoning her, phoning her, phoning her and said to her, this night's not going to end well for you, I hope you know that," said Cait McFarland.

Stepple began the drive to the Calgary Airport with Conway, Craswell and MacLean at about 1:00 a.m.

A couple hours later, RCMP was called to the horrific scene along Highway 2.

^ What in the world happened between say 2-3:30 that morning as the time frame in these picture is missing? I'm sure someone brought that up already in here, but something just doesn't add up with these story.

They could possibly just have this worded wrong. Maybe they went to the Party at 1am, then headed to Calgary.

Or if they were partying, maybe one had drank to much, and they stopped at 7-11 so he/she could try and sober up, and stop being sick...

Just saying....

The partying was in Lethbridge so if they left the party around 1 and made a few stops along the way the time frame could be right. The girl offered to drive them up to the airport so there is a good chance that they had to stop and pick up some luggage, etc.

Whatever the case, sad story in Lethbridge as the Bulls and PBA program are a large part of the city. There are many people affected by this tragedy. Thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones in such a tragic event around the holidays.

Or the shooting didn't actually happen at 3:00am. It could be that was when police were notified.

And what other businesses might be open in Claresholm at 2 a.m.? A local truck stop restaurant, as one example? Did the ex-girlfriend convince her compatriots to help her knock on the ex-boyfriend's door to get some property she'd left behind and an argument ensued followed by a physical confrontation that went badly for the ex-boyfriend who then chased them with guns? Did she call him ahead of time and tell him she'd be stopping by to pick up some stuff? Was the ex-girlfriend flying to Fredricton as well or was she just dropping these guys off?

Imaginations are running rampant!!

Just saying, an hour and a half in Claresholm from 2 a.m. to 3:30 a.m. is a long, long time and, if you're heading to Calgary for a flight, why stop there at all? Were you killing time at the truck stop so you didn't have to kill time at the airport? If so, why leave Lethbridge at 1 a.m.?

It just seems there was probably a purpose for being in Claresholm and a long time was spent there. How did that involve the killer? A random encounter or a previously scheduled meeting?

What was happening in that hour and a half in Claresholm is probably where the meat of this story really lies.

None of my beeswax of course. Just interesting.

Cowperson

Then again, the time they left Lethbridge might be altogether wrong.

Maybe they left one place at 1:00 AM to pick up one of the others... then realized "hey we have a lot of time" Maybe they had a nap or watched a movie. ...

Just sayin' there is no way of knowing (at this point) where the extra time was spent.

I am thinking there is no way they actually drove out of Lethbridge at 1am, stopping to pickup food, luggage or another friend could easily account for the time difference.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a combination of things, such as:

Left the party at 1:15 - friends tell police it was 1:00 (close enough for drunken memory).
Took time to warm up car, grab luggage, grab snacks for trip - actually leave Lethbridge around 1:45.
On the road, receive phone call from angry ex, convinces her to stop at 7-11 in Claresholm to talk.
Get to Claresholm around 2:45, angry ex catches up around 3. Argument outside 7-11. She drives off shortly after 3 and he follows.
Outside of Claresholm, he's following and harassing them, she pulls over and tells him to leave them alone. He pulls gun and shoots them all, followed by himself around 3:15.
Motorist comes upon the scene a few minutes later and calls the police around 3:25 (close enough to 3:30 for media).

Yeah I don't know why people are focusing so much on the timeline. The media took about 50 tries to get the body count correct I wouldn't be shocked if they reported the wrong timeline.

You have CTV reporting Stepple's ex boyfriend as the shooter and the Calgary Sun reporting Conway's ex as the shooter. Can the media report anything right?

Seriously? If you were being followed you would pull over and see why you were being followed?
