So I'm up in Vancouver with my kindle fire. From what I can reckon, the only thing that doesn't work is amazon video. Ive downloaded a book, apps, music and have access to my cloud.
In terms of my apps, only one that doesn't work is netflix. Streaming radio app works.
Playing around with the playbook, it seems pretty decent for $200 but no movie app!

I didn't spend a lot of time on the playbook but I was looking for a netflix app. What is the name of movie app? I assumed there is no movie store.

You could always just load movies from your home computer or dropbox? Or does playbook not have dropbox either

There's a dropbox client called BlueBox. It works great, but I don't think it's official.

If you have a iPhone and laptop already, what use would a tablet be? I still have not found a reason to shell out 500 plus on a tablet, it doesn't do anything better then a iPhone or a MacBook cannot do already.

Gotta be a dumb question, but i just got a free galaxy tab from telus and would like to load up some of my itunes movies. Is this possible? It doesn't play the movies as is. Is there a way to encode the videos to make it work? Thanks in advance

Then don't.
At times my iPad sits for days, maybe a week without being used, but for travelling, on a flight, it's a god send. I would much rather lug that around then a laptop any day of the week.
They are great to leave around the living room for quick use when I just want to use the internet for 10 minutes or play a game quick. Much better then a lap top that way.
One of the neat uses for me is using it as a digital picture frame at times. I have this nice little thing to keep it propped up when not in use on an end table, and at times I'll throw up a bunch of pictures of something, and just let it go, scrolling through picture and picture at random.
Since tablets have become popular I've found that I prefer a desktop/tablet combination then just a laptop. I've never loved laptop, the portability was amazing of course but I always found them to be annoying to use beyond that. If I'm at home I'd much rather sit at my desk with my comfy chair at my desktop PC, and if I'm relaxing, moving around the house I prefer my iPad.
Do you need it?
No, definitely not. If you only an have one of those, get a PC (desk or laptop) but if you already have your super smart phone, and a laptop and want something else, get a tablet, you won't regret it.
It's not a must buy, (yet?) but it's a fun buy.

Finally got my PlayBook tonight and so far it's been impressive.
I really didn't think much about the flash browser but after spending couple hours on it, I feel like browsing on my computer where as i feel like I'm a lot limited on my iPhone.
The best part was when I went to the NHL.com, I was able to watch the highlights using the flash player right from the web site.
One downside of the PlayBook is the keyboard when using it on the browser. It could definitely use some improvement such as double space for . and returning to the regular keyboard after pressing ' key like in the iOS.

I watch NHL.com videos on my iPad all the time. They've got an HTML5 or quicktime fallback.
But yeah, Flash seems to run as well or better on the Playbook than any Android tablet I've played around with.

Does AirSync work? That was available on the market for $0.10 during the Android 10 Billion sale. Dunno how much it is at regular price though.

Well its not that you can watch NHL highlights (NHL app on the iPhone) but rather how I get the same full web site I would get on a desktop. Browsing onthe iPhone, you always get the limited mobile version.
But yeah the keyboard takes awhile to get used to before you can start typing efficiently.

Your not limited to the mobile version. It defaults you there if you are on a mobile device, but it's not mandatory. Scroll to the bottom and hit View Full Site.
