I also remember Jersey (sp?) who had the Extra 300, I never went up with him but one of my buddies I trained with went for a ride, almost puked his guts out with the way he threw that thing around the sky.
I really loved flying around in that Citabria, it climbed like a pig (just find a thermal!) but I enjoyed the pure stick and rudder flying that it was all about. I think we should teach all new pilots on a taildragger, because I could even see how the Cessna's and Katana's had made my coordination a little sloppy.

Doug was a great guy and a great stick, our contest in Rocky is named after him in the Doug Jenkins memorial. Every pilot should have some aerobatic experience and know how to fly an aircraft competently through all 3 axes IMO. Most pilot's never see a bank angle beyond 60 degrees nor inverted flight, thats where all the fun begins !! Taildraggers are a lot of fun and those who do their training from the onset with conventional gear are usually better pilots, hard finding a school with an aircraft to train on in this day and age (there is a Citabria in Villeneuve) however. Jerzy is still a very active member of our club and the best unlimited pilot in this country, that is his SU-26 (C-GSUK) in the album I posted. Kevin Hopkins owns the SU-29, they do airshows in their Sukhoi's (Northern Aeros) as well.

Cool stuff, I don't see Ken Fowler's plane in there, surely he would have had it out in Rocky.

Doug was an awesome guy, unfortunately I was unable to attend his service due to being away on business.
I had a hunch that the Sukhoi in your pics was going to be connected to Jerzy.
I know at some point in my future I'd love to own a plane for weekend trips and just to have some fun in. I would seriously consider a taildragger because of how much fun my time was in Doug's Citabria.

Ken is an airshow guy, not a competition guy. Ken has been a safety pilot for primary competitors in a Pitts S-2B the past two years at our contest. Have you seen Ken and Eric (Team Rocket) fly, great show ?

I've known Ken for years. I haven't seen the duo, but his solo act was always top notch.

Great pics, thanks for sharing them.
I noticed the "Rutan Legacy" section, did they have an area dedicated to his sweet mutton chops?

Apparently KLM is going to be offering you not only the ability to pick your seat, but pick your seat mate as well. Using Facebook & Linkedin to connect passengers with other passengers.
Neither USA Today nor tNooz get into the specifics. However, it seems different from what Malaysia Airlines is suggesting, where you'll see your friends on the flight and where they're seated.
There's a video explaining the idea (but not fully) here: http://mashable.com/2011/12/14/klm-a...ntent=FaceBook

I wish the coverage for planefinder and flightradar24.com was better in the YYC area.

Nice to see there is some good plane spotting to be had in Calgary.
Not sure if it beats Pearson (which is where I go now), but Calgary looks fun... better angles to get unobstructed views when the plane is touching down. Hard to get that in Toronto.
The photo below was shot at 11.5mm, lol

Thanks Scotian. The trick to YYC is to keep a network of people that hear about unique visitors coming to town, then it is just a matter of having your camera with you at all times. I work right by the airport, and our yard here backs onto the approach for 34 so sometimes I can just walk out back to get the shot.
Lots of great spots to get pics too, with some of the upcoming development that may make some of the sightlines harder to come by though.
Love that A380 shot! Still waiting for one to divert here, we have a pretty good chance with both Lufthansa and Air France flying the A380 over to San Francisco.

I didn't even realize that the plane was "broken" and had to be fixed. Does anyone know what needed to fixed on the plane?

Pilot and co-pilot seats needed to be replaced.
