Underrated - Becker, and the mini-series Taken (not the movie).

They also were in it for the long haul, introducing major players once and then losing them for the rest of the season until it was their turn for a bigger role in the series.
I got it, I just didn't enjoy it.

Not really sure if it fits as underrated, but it's just a couple of movies that I enjoyed that a lot of people didn't seem to.

Fifth Element - I must have watched this movie over 10 times. Loved it. A naked Mila Jovovich doesn't hurt either.

Demolition Man - God I loved this movie when I was a kid. Not sure why. Awesome flick.

Add 3rd Rock From the Sun as an underrated show.

Most overrated movie of my lifetime. Gladiator, starring Russell Crowe. Such a mediocre movie, wins best picture, everyone I know seems to love it. I don't get it.

One movie I don't understand how anyone cannot like it is Pan's Labyrinth. I love the movie, it has everything I like in a movie in it, I think because of the stupid fact that not only is it in spanish but it's also a 'dark' film people get put off by it. I've told 5 people that absolutely love the show Once Upon A Time to watch Pan's Labyrinth, and they all think it's not going to be good and end up coming out of it underwhelmed. So frustrating.

Underrated: Malcolm in the Middle

What brilliance this show was, so unique, so lovable. Came on after the Simpsons on Sunday nights. Man, how good was Sunday night TV before Seth MacFarlane took it over?

Yup.

Ben Katz is one of the funniest characters alive, and that show introduced me to so many comedians at that time that I can't even count.

Poor Ben, never did get Laura.

Great show when it was at it's peak, it trailed off and I stopped watching and still haven't seen the last couple of seasons. But it was a very sweet family show at the heart of it, and very well written. Bryan Cranston as Hal was so good. Hal's freakouts were legendary.

Avery Brooks... speaking of underrated. Why the hell doesn't the guy seem to do any acting anymore?

I'm pretty sure he went back to teaching at Rutgers or something.

And no, he isn't teaching American History X.

Some more Sunday night TV...

Underrated: The War at Home

Solid show all around, Michael Rapaport was hilarious. Didn't get enough credit, wasn't given enough chance. I think a lot of people will disagree with me, though.

I saw an episode of that and thought it was trash... but it reminded me of the show Grounded for Life. Donal Louge was really funny in it, and I remember what epic tits the red headed daughter had. Apparently it moved from Fox, but I only remember it for a season at the most.

If I have learned anything from this thread, it is that I simultaneously have terrible and good taste in movies and television, and that I am missing out on some obscure shows and movies that I have never heard of.

Wow, I was unaware that it ran for that long and had that many accolades. In my age category it seems to be hated and/or forgotten.

Your Highness is one of the stupidest POS movies I have ever watched in my lifetime (and this coming from someone who loves Franco and enjoys McBride), and Land of the Lost was about as unforgettable as they come (again, coming from someone who loves Will Ferrell).
Whatevs, I thought Cop Out was hilarious, Kevin Smith doing an homage to 80s buddy cop movies, what's not to like. Even the cheezy synth score was enough to make me laugh out loud.

Land of the Lost is Will Ferrel's best movie. When he dousing himself with dinosaur urine, and the Matt Lauer cameos. It's not my favorite, but its definately underrated.

As for Your Highness, well it might be the best film I've seen this year (J Edgar and Hugo are close, I'm pretty sure Tintin and Girl With Dragon Tattoo will be better though). It's like The Princess Bride for frat boys. So many good parts, I've seen it three times already.

And Moon as over-rated? How Sam Rockwell didn't get any Oscar nomination or anything for his role is a complete joke. If anything Moon is under-rated, that movie is amazing.
I liked Moon, but with everyone saying how awesome it was I was expecting more.

I'd also like to throw Blue Valentine in the overrated category. Ugh, I can't believe I sat through that whole thing. Did anybody else notice all the red/blue metaphors? So cheezy, like it was written by a kid in junior high school, even though the subject matter is quite adult.
