Why is that sad?
Lots of people would say that the best years of their lives are between 16 and 25.
It makes sense that grade 12 would be one of the best. You turn 18 (and the awesome stuff with that), graduate, apply for Uni, party a lot, don't have a ton of adult responsibility, you get to drink and party a whole lot, girls, parties etc.

I just think it is completely sad to have your best year in the past. Maybe it's defeatist. Ideally, every year should be the best year of your life. There are really no external forces stopping it.

I feel sorry for people who say that their best years were in high school.

Neither of those places, but a school of a similar ilk. They don't even have a high school there anymore.

He never said it is the best, and no year will ever take it's place.

Churchill.
Anyone remember/have/had Mr. Giantimous? I just called him Mr. G since his last name was ridiculous. Best teacher I've ever had. Taught for only 15 minutes, let us do whatever the heck we wanted to after. Let us go out early. It was a blast. Best of all our class had the highest final mark of the school - so no, he's that good of a teacher.

Wait a second, you were able to talk to girls when you were 18? Curses, I knew I did this whole High School thing wrong.

Sure, when I look back my life seemed super swell with zero responsibility, video games and street hockey but there's no way in hell I'd go back.

I seriously regret that I never attended my 10 and 20 year reunions. Just to see how everyone has aged and how all of the "cool people" have turned out.
