The corporately owned civic authorities will no doubt melt it down into bullets and send it right back to the protesters.

I can't recall any protest where I have no idea what they are actually protesting. It changes every gd day from sustainability to corporate responsibility to human rights to government corruption.

Please just go away Occupy groups and come back when you have a game plan. I put together business plans and various project planning documents all the time, maybe you should do the same.

Wow, that's indescribably garbage. I admit I'm oldschool, and my old school sensibilities tell me that the only thing that its suitable is to melt it down and make door stops with it.

Heart of the beast . . . . more like indescribable thing wrapped in a poo coil.

Donate it an outstanding corporate citizen! Like Encana or Suncor! They can place it on a marble fountain inside their lobby! 24 hour security, climate control. It'll stand as a reminder of hard work & the spirit of business!

The city better keep that sculpture, consider it collateral against the damage they caused at Olympic Plaza (I also like jaydorn's idea).

Because it was the exact same watch my buddy was looking to reward himself with after finishing law school. So he knew what price and what model it was. Forgot the name of the brand as I don't follow this stuff.

What if the sculpture is really a "Trojan Horse" and the occupiers are hiding inside of it just hoping to be placed in a corporate office building?

It could happen.

#OccupyCalgary protesters handed out a statement and refused to speak to it during the "media avail" this morning. Details at 9:30.

3 choices

melt it down
put it in front of the Homeless shelter
Give it to Nenshi as a reminder to end a problem before it begins

"The Occupation Was In Tents"

That's the most clever thing these people came up with. Get it 'In Tents' --> 'Intense'.

Geniuses.

you would know they were in there because the thing would smell like a combination of poo, pot, hash, unclean bodies and burning stupidity.

I'm dissapointed, did they at least do a 10 act play using spirit fingers?

Reading the story of the press conference shows how lame and stupid this group of people were.

Quote:
They have not said anything so far, saying that their refusal to speak is part of the protest because they've been silenced by bylaw.
We never denied their right to protest, we denied their decision to illegally squat. They can sit in the park all day, do their spirit fingers, rub their singing bowl and do whatever it is they do, feel free, knock yourselves out, but don't camp.

Quote:
"Are congratulations in order for this victory of bylaws and disregard over unquenchable ideas?"
What ideas? you guys didn't bring forth any ideas, at the end of the day, you bought forth catchphrases, you demanded free stuff, but ideas . . . nobody knows what the hell your ideas were.

Quote:
About the art installation, they say it is a gift to Calgarians. "In the space where our community once stood, we leave a physical monument, "The Heart of the Beast." We humbly request that it be seen as a permanent reminder to all people who visit Olympic Plaza of the voices throughout history that have been silenced."
Personally it should be hauled to the dump with the rest of the garbage you left there including you're cutsey little signs. The metal should be melted down and sent to the Mattel Toy Corporation to make Knight Rider lunch boxes.

Quote:
Now, according to Bruce, bylaw officers will be going through the park and assessing the damage and cleaning up to make sure the park is ready for the winter season.
Where do we send the bill?

A silent press conference, shows yet again why Occupy Calgary was a waste of time.

I awoke to police officers stationed outside our home, they left when I went off to work - those guys are awesome.

Rather than repeat the whole thing, here is a link to my thoughts on "Heart of the Beast."

After a few hours to reflect on this I'd tend to agree, there's no reason it should be destroyed. Just based on the pictures it's actually quite nice, and clearly someone put a lot of effort into it.

Truthfully I'd like to see it next to the peace bridge, two contentious events/symbols in Calgary contrasted against each other.

Assuming there's no further soap opera surrounding occupy calgary this is a surprisingly classy send off from this group, much nicer than I expected to see.

Does the end justify their means? Not necessarily, but it sure does end things on a high note if we assume the alternative was pepper spray.
