The veto does. not. matter.
If 2/3 of congress approve the bill, the Presidential veto is nullified.
2/3=66.6%
93/100= 93%

They would have to have another vote to overturn the veto. Both the House of Reps (again) and the Senate (again). Good lord.

Please, just take 3 minutes of your time before you reply again. Just 3 minutes. That's all I ask of you.

And if 93% wanted it past, do you not think that there's a good chance they'll shoot down the veto as well?

You're not giving anon the respect they deserve in these matters.

I'm not some child, I am a very, very well educated adult who does not need to be treated with this sort of demeaning tone.

Being British I may have missed the part where a bill has the power to supercede the constitution, but I was darned sure the constitution always supercedes bills therefore this bill would likely, in the absurdly unlikely event it got passed and signed, be struck down by the supreme court in short order.

Shh, this is scary. Reasoned, thought out statements are not welcome here. Why? Because Anonymous. That's why.

Your education seems to be lacking regarding basic US political procedure and political party functioning. But I'm proud of you!

I want to publicly thank TurnedTheCorner for the greatest display of comic timing a message board has ever seen. It is sad that I am one of the few witnesses to his comic genius in real time, at this wee hour of the morning.

I actually have tears streaming down my face.

Did the constitution supersede the violation's to it done by the Patriot act?

But whatever, obviously members of calgarypuck are more informed then the rest of the world. So while everyone else gives a ####, you can keep going on with your ways.
Sorry to have bothered you.

Exactly, and looks like they are at it again. Were not talking "good" damage right?

It's also amazing that a lot of people have been watching this happen for a long time now, telling people that civil rights have been rapidly eroding in America, and for a large part have been dismissed as ranting lefties.

The fact that this bill was even created should be frightening. The fact that it already has enough support to become law should be scary as hell.

I wonder where the constitution-waiving right-wingers are now?

Nothing to be proud of.

Heh - now I'm kind of hoping that a presidential veto gets overturned by a vote just to see the 'I told you so' reply HAHA. You'll be able to see Cole's boner from space.
