Yep, if anyone votes for the matchup they want vs the second best team, the system is a total joke. Have to follow the rules as they are.

I see no issue with changing the rules to make a conference championship a prerequisite to get in the nc game.

That said I don't think Alabama has the better resume. Quality of loss is bs to me. Anyone could lose to lsu. Margin of victory should not matter. The fact that it was at home should.

Im ok with tweaking it as well to say winning the conference is a pre req. and while they are at it, they can cancel a couple conferences as auto qualifiers.

We heard the same argument about Oregon last year and they were one of the few teams to shut down Newton. Come back with the yards/play numbers and we'll talk. And that doesn't even mention the ridiculous amount of turnovers the OSU defense forces.

And who exactly in the SEC would pick on that defense? The inept offenses of Florida, Auburn, Tennesse, South Carolina?
I can tell you that only having a total of seven offensive linemen, a terrible qb at best and 175lb running backs and a whole new offensive scheme and that isn't going to do well..

UF had no depth this year and the offense couldn't sustain a drive giving the defense no breaks. We have 67 scholarship players (85 is the limit) and 66% of the team are freshman and sophomore's. We won't be good for atleast another two years.

Maybe this will finally end this crappy system.

Yeah, I thought they had a shot, but if they didn't pull ahead in Sagarin's poll, they've got next to no chance... by my count they'd need to win all 5 of the other computer polls, and then get within about 30 votes in the Harris poll.

I have a question. If OK State has lost yesterday and there was a criteria in place that a team has to win its conference, who would LSU be playing?

Oregon or Oklahoma. Probably Oklahoma though.

Congrats to Bama for not losing to a team destined for the New Era Pinstripe Bowl

No one in the SEC was saying this when Florida got in over Michigan. Everyone thought Michigan was the second best team in the country but voters adjusted their votes to avoid a rematch. What's different this year?

As someone just said, Congrats to LSU for the National Championship. Having to go 2-0 against Bama while playing an extra game against a top 15 team is a joke.

The problem is that a playoff wouldn't be any better this year. We all know LSU is the best in the country.

Hilarious, Virginia tech gets a better bowl game and a better opponent by getting embarrassed yesterday! Kind of a joke that both they and Michigan got a bcs bid, if anyone still cares about the other bcs games.

@Andy_Staples: In 2008, who blocked a 4-team playoff? The Big 12, Big Ten, PAC-10, and Big East. Who proposed it? The SEC. Slive tried to save you from this...

That's such a moronic statement without knowing what the proposal was and why it was rejected. For all we know it could have been filled with things that would have made things even more of a mess.

I'd be willing to bet that those conferences know that right now they're guaranteed to get BCS bowl money. Why would they want to run the risk of missing out on that cash cow?

The proposal stemmed from when Auburn went undefeated and was snubbed in 2004. I'm sure Silve was confident that the SEC would have at least one representative for the foreseeable future, so it wasn't exactly a selfless act.
