If the Rams don't draft Blackmon, they are making a huge mistake. I know they need D, but Blackmon is the best receiver I have seen in college since Megatron.

So how would a +1 system work?
LSU would be in the Sugar Bowl against who?
Fiesta Bowl: OK State vs West Virginia?
Rose Bowl: Oregon vs Wisconsin?
Orange Bowl: Clemson vs who?

The Real NC game should be a LSU Gold vs Purple game.
A playoff would only serve to provide injury opportunity to LSU. I don't really like the idea of a rematch But I'm not sure there is a good argulement for anyone other than Bama.
If you consider quality of wins, you probably would say OSU has the best arguement
If you consider quality of losses, you no doubt would say Bama has the best arguement.
But overall how can you leave out a 1 loss SEC team for a 2 loss Big XII team? SEC is head and shoulders better than everything else in NCAA football, and to ignore that to put OSU in the final doesn't make sense to me.

Uh, Oklahoma State is 11-1.
And the SEC is not head and shoulders better than everything else in football this year. They're top heavy, but the bottom of that conference is pathetic.
At the end of the day it comes down to this for me - Alabama had their chance at LSU at home and lost. Oklahoma State has just as good a resume as Alabama after that beatdown of OU and deserve a shot. A rematch would settle nothing.
If Bama plays in the title game, LSU is the National Champion in my opinion regardless of what happens in that game.

Except they don't. They both have one loss, except the Cowboys loss was much worse.

And OSU has better wins.
And a tougher strength of schedule (6th vs. 23rd).
Answer me this - what would Bama beating LSU prove? That it's a split national title?

Look, it you don't watch a rematch, I understand that. But if people want the two best teams playing, it's Bama and LSU. Better wins is extremely debatable, but the certainly have the worse loss.

You have to put OK State in for 2 reasons:
1) They actually won their conference
2) If you put Bama in, you award them for losing that game against LSU early this year. Not only did it not hurt their National Title aspirations, but they also got a nice little bye week while LSU had to fend off a pretty decent Georgia Bulldogs team in the SEC Championship game.
With that being said, I do think Bama is the 2nd best team in the country.

Best two teams is also extremely debatable. And better wins isn't unless you're an SEC homer.
The fact remains is that we've already seen LSU beat Bama. What does besting them again prove?

Hmmm I thought OSU lost to Tech ... that must have been OU.
hmm, same losses, either team then I guess.
As for ranking the conferences, the SEC has shown over the last 5 to 10 years that not only are they the best, but they are separating from the pack. Ok State had one of the worst defences in all of College football and they still won the BigXII. That defence would have handed them 2 or 3 losses in the SEC easy.

Some interesting rumors out of Austin that Mack Brown is going to "retire" (be forced out).
I think that would be a mistake.

Sorry, losing on the road in double ot and on the day that the women's basketball coaches died isn't really a cake walk. I also believe that OSU had a stronger SOS than UA too.
OSU should get in after destroying OU last night. Bama didn't win it's conference and sat on their fat asses last night while others played. Hell it doesn't matter anyways. Bama will most likely make it in the MNC or they will claim another title with a sugar bowl victory.

I think I posted something on here before about this, maybe it was another forum. Well either way I heard this a week or so ago and that Saban was the guy they were looking at to replace him. I will say that during Bama's bye week that Saban's Agent was here at our hotel. Now I know that agents talk to their clients every so often but Nicks contract isn't about to expire and after the way he was belittled after the LSU loss it wouldn't surprise me if he left.

I don't think the point of the National Championship is to have the two best teams play though. The point is to find out who is the best team is. There's a key difference there.
LSU has already proven on the field that they're better than Alabama. Even if Bama is the second best team in the country, what does a rematch prove? Alabama might be better than OSU, but they also might not be. Why don't they deserve a first chance over Alabama getting a do-over (and having the benefit of not having to play an extra game vs. Georgia)?

They have been the best conference the last few years, but this year it's some great teams and a whole lot of mediocrity.
And to just look at yards/game and say Oklahoma St. has a bad defense is ridiculous. These high tempo offense teams always give up lots of yards defensively because they score so quickly and on so few plays that the opposition offense gets a lot more time on the field than against a ball control team like Bama or LSU (not to say OSU is nearly as good as them). We heard the same argument about Oregon last year and they were one of the few teams to shut down Newton. Come back with the yards/play numbers and we'll talk. And that doesn't even mention the ridiculous amount of turnovers the OSU defense forces.
And who exactly in the SEC would pick on that defense? The inept offenses of Florida, Auburn, Tennesse, South Carolina?

You bring up good points, but this is flat out wrong. The only mandate of the NC game is to define the best, and second best teams in NCAA football. That's all its supposed to do. They establish a criteria to define the best and second best, and then let the teams sort themselves out under that criteria.

OK State D is bad in more than just yards against. And even if that wasn't true, Florida didn't have an awful defense when they had that fast break offsense that put up tons of points, nor did BSU, or Oregon the last couple years.
If OK State gets in, its not a big crime, but I think I'd still vote Bama #2. What's the closest thing to a perfect season? well being tied with the #1 team after 60 min and then losing in OT is probably the very definition of that.
