Kootenay blows a late lead and loses 7-5.
Reinhart has a goal, but is -3.
Leach has an assist (and is -4).

Gaudreau has slowed down of late points wise, but the 6 shots on is a good sign, I'm thinking.
Is Arnold expected to make the US junior team?

Arnold SHOULD make the team. He's got really good numbers in a league that's not all that conducive to offensive skill.
Gaudreau is a bit of a long shot this year. But USA Hockey probably likes his dangling skillz.

WHL prospect updates:
Bartschi with a goal in a 5-1 win
Reinhart with a goal in a 7-5 loss
Leach with an assist in the 7-5 loss as well
Holland held pointless and Wortherspoon also held pointless

Is Howse odd man out, or hurting right now?
I've followed him for the past 5 years as a former Chilliwack Bruins STH and to those who do not know much about him, he is a great character guy who busts a nut out there for his fellow teammates.
Not sure how many of you know it, but last season in the WHL playoffs against Tri-Cities, he played with 2 seperated shoulders, so bad that he needed help just to put his own jersey on.
Howse and Horak worked really well together, so I feel with Roman cracking the Flames so far this young season, and Howse having to play catch up with his shoulder injuries he wasn't expected to set the AHL on fire as a 20 year old.
If he's healthy, he should go to the ECHL, play a more offensive role, and get used to the Pro game and get some confidence back. Obviously if he's hurt, then he just has to work hard to get back out there as quickly as possible.
I am so stoked that no matter what, both Howse and Horak will ALWAYS be considered "Bruins", and never wore another WHL jersey.
To be completely honest, I am not a Flames fan (I am actually a huge Nashville fan...so last years play off run against the Canucks was pretty cool), but the Flames organization has 2 great character guys in Howse and Horak, as a guy who has met them at the rink, in the community, and both spent time with the fans, and not just my kids. The family plans on watching a few games out in Abby in the new year just to cheer on one of "Chilliwack's favorite son's".

I have a lot of hope for Howse, he's got talent and he works hard so there's no reason why he shouldn't succeed... injuries are the only limiting factor so hopefully he can overcome that and play a big role in the Flames' plans moving forward.

Really no point in playing guys like Ivanans and PL³ while sitting a healthy Howse, so my best guess would be that Howse is still nursing some kind of injury ... otherwise he'll surely play regularly in Abbotsford or go to the ECHL like Wahl did. Thanks for the heads up about his shoulder problems, rednex50 - I knew he was injured back then (that was the reason why he didn't play for the Heat after being eliminated with Chilliwack IIRC), but I didn't know the extent of the injury ... every guy who is playing through injury deserves respect, but two separated shoulders just sound sick.
I actually followed the Bruins pretty closely because I was able to catch a game in Chilliwack when I was in Canada two years ago. Was excited to watch the game just because of "our" prospect Howse, but afterwards I also checked the progress of guys like Brandon Manning, Jamie Crooks and others. Too bad for you that they moved to Victoria though.
I have high hopes on Howse. I think if he could get healthy and adjust his overall game to pro hockey, he could be an integral part of the future Flames. Obviously his start in the pro ranks could have been better, but I'm sure he can turn it around sooner or later. I think a ECHL stint could be good for his confidence.
Patrick Holland is having a good spell at the moment. He now has 6 goals in his last 10 games, which is a good sign because he didn't score a single goal in his first 11 games of the season and just a single one in his first 17. So finally seeing his name on the scoreboard on a regular basis again is a relief. 7+22 in 27 games is good, especially since he also contributes in other areas. I think with Holland and Reinhart, we have some solid 2-way-forwards on the way. Will be great to see them in Abbotsford next year and hopefully in a Flames uniform as soon as possible.

[QUOTE=rednex50;3420349]Is Howse odd man out, or hurting right now?
Thanks for the write up, but I'd like to know what's going on with him now also.
There's nothing here: http://www.abbynews.com/sports/heat/news/
I see that he played on November 25 and 29:
http://theahl.com/stats/gamebygame.php?id=4180
I like the meritocracy idea in theory, and if Howse really isn't putting in an effort, I guess the Heat shouldn't play him, but the guy has to play somewhere even if it's the ECHL as others have done as "devo22" suggested.

His team was shut out in the previous game, but tonight Markus Granlund added a goal and an assist. Both were nice plays.
So the stats are... 15 points in 23 games, 10 points in the 9 games since the national team break.
With regard to a possible NHL career, stats mean much less than the qualities a player possesses, but they're beginning to look pretty good for Markus. For example, Zibanejad has just 4 points in 10 games in Sweden, so it's not something you take for granted with a player that was just drafted, despite the fact that it might not mean much in the long run.
Some sort of highlights for those that can view them... First goal is Granlund and then later the assist on his team's fourth goal...

Arnold and Gaudreau have a goal each tonight in BC's game vs. BU. The game is in the second period.
Update: Gaudreau adds an assist with his goal. Come on hockey USA, or whatever you're called, pick Arnold and Gaudreau

If Howse isn't playing when he isn't he sent down to Utah, they have struggled to score goals since Dowling and Wahl have left?
Speaking of Utah they managed to pick up a 3-2 win in OT last night VS Colorado. Bryan Cameron tied the game at 15:53 of the third on the PP, John Armstrong then potted the winner at 19:26 in OT.
John Armstrong with another goal, tonight, with Bryan Cameron getting one of the two assists on the goal as Utah is down 3-2 in Colorado after 40.

Bartschi has two assists so far tonight in the first period tonight against Seattle.
Heat win 2-1. Kolanos and Walter score. Irving stops 29 of 30 shots.

It'd be awesome if the Heat could go 3 for 3 this weekend.

Wotherspoon's goal gives him 12 points on the year, (his total for last year, which took him 64 games to get)
