What do you know, one of Calgary's communities with low property values and low rents has a crime problem.
Mind bottling.

So glad I moved out of that neighborhood. I grew up in Temple and have nothing but memories of fights, police and not being allowed out at night. All before the age of 6.

Half of those are "6700 block of Temple Dr. N.E."
A precision strike should be able to remove the majority of the problems.

50 or so people asking @Nenshi to nuke a Calgary neighborhood would be pretty funny.

It's my idea and even I laughed out loud hearing you repeat it. I agree, it would be funny!

If it were any Calgary community, it should be Tuscany.
Nuke it from orbit just to be sure.

Back in the day, Forest Lawn was pretty much considered the ghetto, followed by Penbrooke. Then as you moved north (Marlborough/Marlborough Park, Rundle/Pineridge, Whitehorn/Temple) things got progressively "better".
I'm guessing Forest Lawn is still the same, but have things started to shift over time? Just curious...

Do we really want Nenshi using his only tactical nuke in this manner, though? I mean, we will have the technology to accurately hit Edmonton one day -- right?

These things are all subjective at the end of the day, but things like property values and reported crime rates (and type - property, violent, etc.) can be quasi-proxies.
The first thing that should be mentioned in any discussion is that depressed neighbourhoods in Canadian cities pale in comparison to the US and elsewhere in the world - including other first-world areas. It used to be said that there's really only 2 true "ghettos" in Canada - Downtown East Side Vancouver and Regent Park area of Toronto - and even Regent Park has improved substantially in recent years.
To answer the question directly though - yes these things have changed over time and will continue to. 20-30 years ago Inglewood was a comparatively "bad" area, after seeing time over previous decades as the de-facto downtown and most desirable area. Since then it has become better and more desirable. The greater Forest Lawn area will probably see changes over the next few years that could move it more toward the middle of the pack or be an above average community in terms of property values, crime rates, etc.

Tuscany's got a dumb layout, horrible access, and it looks like a crop circle from space, but that's not enough to nuke it IMO.

Well, they have provided such a nice, convenient target to aim at. It would almost be a shame to not do it.

At the end of the day, for the NE
Any neighbourhood east of 36st NE = bad and i avoid at all costs. I dont even feel safe driving in them and only go in these trenches if i absolutely have to, otherwise youre asking for trouble. You also drink toilet water in these areas. Just look at all the restaurants and grocery stores...horrible, dirty, filthy, rundown wastelands.
Any neighbourhood west of 36st NE = great! Safe and not a G-thug gangster wannabe crime scene. Places are clean with fairly new and modern establishments.
