Bartschi with 3 points already (1 goal, 2 assist) in the 1st period
His first period goal was taken away from him and he was giving an assist on that one, I'm guessing it was the one Nicolas Petan scored at 12:45? Finished the night with 4 assists in a 6-2 win over Swift Current. He was also +3 on the night.

Don't really have time to look right now, but does anyone know out of other drafted players in Sven's class who have more points then him? I would imagine there has to be a few (Stone and Rattie off the top of my head in the WHL), it is still good to be near those players considering Sven has played less games.

Stone isn't in Sven's class, he was drafted in 2010. I found two players with more points right now:
- Ty Rattie (Portland (WHL) / Blues prospect, 32nd overall): 27 goals and 23 assists for 50 points in 27 games
- Zack Phillips (Saint John (QMJHL) / Wild prospect, 28th overall): 16 goals and 30 assists for 46 points in 26 games
So that's it, and both have played 7 or 8 games more than Sven. Many other 1st and 2nd rounders score on a PPG basis, quite a few are even better (like 1.5 points/game), but Sven has by far the best offensive numbers of the 2011 draftees in the CHL. However, I just took a quick look at the first two rounds, but I seriously doubt that anyone drafted after the first two rounds is putting up better numbers than Sven.

I think Hubreadeau has put up over 2 PPG since going back to juniors in the more offensive QMJHL. But he has played even less games than Baertschi so he has less points but on a similar pace.
Thought I would share a video from Saturday night to pass the time. Holland had a goal and two assists and collected the first star in a 6-1 win over the Regina Pats. Here is a link to the highlights from the game including Holland's sweet goal in the first. It is the first video on the top left. There should be a clip to the Tri-City vs Portland game from the 23rd on there also that has Sven's first star night against the Ams in a 7-6 loss.

That is pretty decent company to be in.
Just looked up Hubreadeau and he has 28 points in 13 games. 2.15 ppg.
To be fair most of those players drafted above him are either playing in the NHL and doing pretty well or are D-men. Though he is out producing Strome (5), Scheifle (7), and is on par with Huberdeau (3).
One guy I am watching pretty closely is McNeil. There was a big camp picking him as the player the Flames should have drafted. He ended up going 18 overall and Baertschi is blowing him out of the water this season.
McNeil only has 22 points in 27 games and is a minus 7.
^^To be fair to McNeil, he's on the second worst team in the dub.
I would imagine he'll get traded to a team looking to make a playoff run later on, and when he gets to play with some good players his offense will probably improve.

So far so good in that draft choice.
I was always hoping that Zibanejad would drop enough for the Flames to take him, but now I'm happy that Ottawa picked him, Baertschi is looking like he could end up just as good as Zibanejad, even though Zibanejad made the team out of camp, he's now back in Sweden.
Irving with 2 goals let in on 3 shots. Then Ortio goes in and lets in 2 goals on 3 shots.
Byron and Rheault with the goals so far at the first intermission. 4-2 Milwaukee.
Milwaukee has been the Heat's achilles tendon for the last three seasons.
Not looking good.....hard to say what the problem is. I don't think it is the goalies. Not sure what is going on with Kylanos....since he was signed has he had any goals? Byron looks good but is at -2 with two points I think so far tonight. They have shortened the bench, looks like fourth line has not played since early in the 2nd so can't blame it on them!! The last few games make me wonder....good team, strong players...is it coaching or just a bit of a slump?

I think people were just salivating over a centreman prospect who was tough as nails. As far as talent and offensive ability goes he is nowhere close to Bartschi.
Another player that people were all over was Joel Armia, who has been crapping all over the SM-Liiga. He just started picking it up the last 2 or 3 games, but yikes is a train wreck early
Yeah, very uncharacteristic of the Heat as they're one of the best defensive teams in the AHL.
I don't think it's something to worry about at this point. They'll turn it around again. What they need is for Kolanos to pick it back up again. He's gone ice cold.
Sylvester's on a nice little point streak right now. He had 2 points tonight.

Armia's case is another illustration of the difference between NA and European prospects. If you're 18, playing in men's league, and you stumble a bit, no one's going to coddle you and there are any number of veterans who do most things better than you do. It may be that you're just working on weaknesses in your game or figuring things out, but the stats make it look like you fell off the edge of the world. If you play in a junior league, you'll get the ice time and the points even if you're not at your best.
That's why I appreciate Markus Granlund's situation right now. He's getting a chance that can by means be taken for granted. Backlund was stuck on the bench on a second-tier league when the Flames rescued him, if I remember right.
Many players who do really well in the NHL never lit up their own leagues, and vice versa. Sometimes that difference is quite dramatic, like say in Ovechkin's case. A player with a lot of talent will flourish as soon as he gets to play with NHL level talent.
Granlund's stats don't even mean that much, although it's nice to see he has those abilities. The next two seasons in Finland are when we'll start to see if he might develop into an NHL player. But so far so good.
Granlund has added 3 assists in the past two games, 1 before and 2 tonight.
Which makes it 5+8 in 21 games, +10. He has scored 4+4 in the 7 games after the break.
EDIT: I'll add a video from last night's game although there's not much to see there. A pass in the beginning to his brother. The other point was a secondary assist on another goal by this brother.

does that mean you don't see him jumping to NA anytime in the next 2 years?
