Top 10 riots in Canada is mainly Vancouver/Montreal based as well. This list doesn't include the recent SCF riot so notch down another spot for Vancouver.
I won't be satisfied until every Canuck fan on this board self-emoliates (preferably on video for proof) to show that they agree that their city has a rioting problem.
Vancouver needs Riot Anonymous. If any Canuck for, or vanflamesfan needs a sponsor I am willing.
I don't know if you meant immolate here ... but self-emoliate is a pretty funny mistake and still fitting.

The "show me statistics" response is so typical of the denial issues here, I really have to shake my head.
Vancouver is a beautiful city, one I'm proud to call home now. Hell I even make a living selling people on the dream of Vancouver living and calling it their home, but there's a real denial issue here about the element of d-bags & it does a real disservice to the city.
Instead of admitting issues & looking for solutions theres always a defensive reaction to try and preserve Vancouvers best place in the world type image.
If you can't show case files worth of evidence about an issue, people would rather just pretend it doest exist.

So based on general consensus of city founding dates (length of city history), I figured out the average of years to riots. (1 riot per x years)
vancouver - riot every 25 years
montreal - riot every 49 years
toronto - riot every 54.5 years
smalltown quebec - riot every 83 years
regina - riot every 129 years
ottawa - riot every 185 years
winnipeg - riot every 199 years
halifax - riot every 262 years

Vancouver ranks 30th in most dangerous to aggravated assault just above the national average, Montreal the other city most associated with Riots is 73rd way below it. Plenty of major cities with no history of riots are way above both of them
so having riots looks to have no real direct links to the amount of assault per capita
I think every city in the world has a D-bag problem, that's what I have been saying
horrible incidents like the assault yesterday happen in every city
...and it's the continuel "it happens in every city" response from people in Vancouver that has the rest of the country shaking their heads every time they hear it.

are you denying that it does not?
people in this thread are saying that incidents like this are more common in Vancouver than anywhere else, I asked for any stats, I don't think they are but I would be fine proven incorrect
I provided statistics on assault that show Vancouver is lower than many other major cities in Canada
I am not defending Vancouver or the terrible people who committed this assault, but it's being used as a lightning rod to rip Vancouver again and make blanket statements about a city without providing any evidence to back them up
when someone says something as simple as this happens in Vancouver more than anywhere else and is asked if they have proof of this, why is that attacked? (which is different than the few people that mentioned specific personal incidents)

the more evidence and information the better
I understand this thread not to be about violent cities, but rather to be about sports related violence and anti-social behavior. Vancouver is a beautiful city, a relatively safe city, but there does appear to be a sports related hooligan problem there.

Am I the only one who would feel nervous about going to a Nucks Flames game at Rogers Arena? They're bad enough at the dome, I can't imagine what they would be like in their own arena. I have lots of friends who are Canucks fans and they're great guys... until they pull that jersey on, then they become a few of the biggest ***holes in the world. I really don't understand it.

I stopped going after the first yr I moved to Van. Just wasn't enjoyable feeling like I was constantly inches away from a fight.
just as a by the way....the 2009 MacLean's crime issue has Calgary with a higher aggravated assault rate. Motor vehicle theft as well. Other numbers are lower I believe. But this is about a supposed assault so Calgary doesn't have much to be proud of in that regard according to the stats.
There is just something in the water, a fight broke out at the CFL luncheon last night
Who cares about the Vancouver dbags. The Kapp/Mosca tussle was awesome. I've always liked Kapp (player not politics) but it did look like he was screwing with Mosca there a little bit. Mosca swings the cane pretty hard and Kapp comes back with a right to the jaw. King Kong goes down.
