Probably one of the best games the Ravens have played this year, not much to complain about really.

Unfortunately they will probably follow it up with a loss to the Browns, considering that seems to be the way things have gone this season.

This thread doesn't need your garbage but that is so false. I am talking about a player on my favorite team so it isn't really that shocking that I have a different opinion than the masses do.

As for me always having a different opinion then why haven't I changed my view on the rebuild since that would be the easiest thing to do right now and "troll" people into arguments?

I understand that their are posters here with little minds who have to typecast people into little holes to make their simple lives easier but this has nothing to do with me having a different view and everything with me probably looking at the play with a little bit of Detroit Lions colored glasses and defending a player that is not only on my team but that is a huge part of the turnaround.

As for the night game, can't say I am overly surprised. The 49ers are very solid at what they do but after watching them in the Lions game they seem very much unable to change from that formula and I question (outside of a Ginn return) their ability to get explosive big plays when needed to help get back in the game.

They seem to be built to play with a lead and to beat mediocre to bad teams but I question if they have enough offense to hang with the top teams in the league.

The night game was by far the best NFL game I've watched in a long time.

Watching the Suh replay now, well, yeah. He's gone at least a couple games. Complete bush league and he should be ashamed of himself. You can't take the Cornhusker out of the player I guess. Pathetic play and pathetic response after the game. Own up to being a POS.

Pitiful. When are coaches going to learn that it is mathematically advantageous to gamble on 4th down, especially in the red zone. Many papers have been written on the topic, but coaches continue to play it safe and 'take the 3 points.' (The exception, of course, would be the FG at the end of the 2nd quarter.)

eg. If you kick a FG, your expected value (EV) is 3pts (assuming you always make it). If you convert a TD on 4th down 3/7 (43%) of the time, your expected value is 3 points. Even if your conversation rate is as low as 25% (EV = 1.75pts), as long as you can stifle the offense ~35% of the time, you'll have good field position and regain those 1.25 pts you lost on your initial drive, and more.

Not going for the 2-pt convert also came back to bite them, but that one is more defensible.
Those field goals where perfect. Sparano could have kept his job by winning out, but he coaches scared and now we can hopefully fire his ars at season end and get a real coach.

I've been impressed with how quickly the Dolphins have turned it around, thought they were actually gonna pull it off again yesterday. Moore showed some promise in Carolina, was surprised how bad he had looked in Miami, good to see he's finally come aruond. I like watching Bush there too, whether it works out for him or not is still in question, but he certainly is trying to run through the tackles and looks good doing it lately.

It's crazy how quickly it happened for the Phins, your sig has become quite outdated in a very short time. No way that's happening now.

Well as a longtime Cowboys fan I was hoping to hear somebody say they thought the Dolphins played well. Rather than Dallas was hmmmm. I do have to say that despite the ups and downs this year they do seem to be able to make it exciting in almost every game. Plus they are winning some close ones which is good if they end up in the playoffs.

Detroit media on the Suh meltdown....

Quote:
Michael Rosenberg of the Free Press had this to say: "And the worst performance of the day came from their best player. Somebody, please tell me: Is Ndamukong Suh trying to win the Super Bowl or the next Ultimate Fighting Championship?
"Suh was ejected for repeatedly jamming Evan Dietrich-Smith’s head into the ground after a play, then stomping on him. It was not just dirty. It was ridiculously stupid."

And Bob Wojnowski of the News had this to say: "It was the most foolish act on a day of many, and it's inexcusable. And frankly, Suh's muddled explanation for his stomping motion at Green Bay offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith wasn't much better. He's brighter than this, and he's better than this. But until he addresses his on-field composure, he'll be perceived as dirty and dangerous, which is unfortunate. It's getting harder and harder to argue it's inaccurate."
Some Packer players reactions...

Quote:
"That's (expletive)," Packers left guard T.J. Lang said, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "He clearly had Evan by the face mask pinned to the ground. His explanation is crap. There's no room for that. It's a dumb penalty. He hurt his own team today."

"I'm not surprised," he said. "He's been getting dumb penalties all year. That's something we talked about all week. They were probably going to do something stupid along the way. They've done it almost every game."

Packers coaches told players all week to be prepared for dirty play from the Lions, specifically along the defensive line that Suh anchors. Suh has been flagged for seven personal fouls since 2010, tied for the most of any player in the league.

"He was lucky I wasn't on the field," tight end Andrew Quarless said. "Lucky. I'm a New York guy. I don't go for that stuff. It was very unnecessary. I can understand you might get in a scuffle, but you never stomp on a guy. That's like hitting a guy when he's down. You don't do things like that. I was this close to running on the field."

I think Quarless coming off the bench to fight Suh would have been even stupider than Suh's stomp

Also I don't get all the Tebow hate. I'm listening to an interview with him right now and he seems like a really humble, team-first guy. He wins games and he constantly looks to improve, I don't get why everyone dislikes him. Is it because of the christianity thing?

He is a gimmick QB that can't pass. When other teams learn to shut down the gimmick (keep him in the pocket), he won't have much use. DEN's defence has been bailing him out. Elway's luke-warm reaction tells you all you need to know.

Suh's own teammate agrees he has to learn to keep his head about him..

Quote:
"He's just got to learn how to control his temper," defensive tackle Corey Williams said. "As a veteran, I have to pull him to the side and have a little one-on-one talk and let him know you're gonna get cheap-shotted, and you gotta let it go. I can talk until I turn blue in the face, and until he decides he wants to do it, it's gonna be on him."

I fully understand that, but why is he hated so much for being a bad QB and not a guy like Curtis Painter/Dan Orlovsky/whoever?

One thing I wasn't impressed about afterwards was the reaction (more like non-reaction) of Schwartz after it happened. Suh was talking to him afterwards, pleading his case, and it looked like Schwartz was basically saying "I know, I know, its BS" of the ejection. Maybe he didn't have a good view of it from where he was, or at least I hope that was the case. Most coaches would be tearing a strip off their guy for pulling a stunt like that.

I like the Lions and I like the energy Schwartz brings, but I also know what a hothead he is. I wonder how much he actually does crack down on stuff like this, or if he enjoys the reckless aggression. Really needs to get Suh to rein it in.

I think Tebow comes off as a little self-righteous at times but for the most part I don't really dislike him as a person.

My issue with Tebow is the fact that he is so overhyped and that his legions and legions of fans tend ignore that he does little to nothing to help his team win and just point to the wins as though that proves that he is good.

He has been bad to awful in every game, beat a few weak sisters thanks to the defense and RB's.

I ddint realize this until i read it this morning, but guess who was the DC of the Titans when Haynesworth lost his marbles and stupidly stomped on that Cowboys O-Lineman?

Because he wins. Everyone hates a winner. More than everyone hates a winner who has no skill. It messes up the sports fan equilibrium.

To the haters, the more he wins, the more unfair it is and the more the world falls apart.

As a Lions fan i can tell you there was plenty of hate for Orlovsky the few times he did start for us.

I think again it comes down to media/fan attention. Painter gets no media attention unless it is to tell us how much worse he is than Manning. Same with Orlovsky or whoever.

Tebow gets an insane amount of media/fan love and has done nothing to earn it.

Look, I'm not a Tebow fan by any means, but the guy gets a lot of hype because of his accomplishments in college. Not saying it's justified at the pro level, but that's why.
