Here's a post that shows how delusional these people really are from that same forum

Quote:
If we are going to ask them to tell us what they think our demands and concerns are. I stress that we make sure it is clear, that we want to know if they have actually been paying attention at all... If they can come up with some intelligible reposes that at at least almost correct. Then we can be more certain they are likely to listen further.

If this can be ascertained, then it is possible negotiations can move forward. Compromise on how much financial support they will offer to this may be necessary, we know that bureaucrats are not likely to part with money easily, however everyone must keep in mind that the opportunity to spread the message is of the greatest importance. Presenting to the public in a sponsored forum will lend credibility to the cause, this is worth more than the outlay of money from the city. I would caution that seeming greedy and demanding taking too much could also work do our detriment.
The whole thing is laughable

FYI This post is from earlier today and long after they threatened to burn the last stupid offer and the Mayor basically has told them to screw off and die.

Ok folks, while I’m hesitant to make a deal with the City, I will bend to the idea that it’s likely a good show of solidarity with OWS to begin good faith negotiations. Also, I think Arran makes some very good points in his post. Please consider them. That said, here’s my suggestions for items in an agreement. I’m sure there are many other suggestions to consider:

[list of ten demands]

I’d decline the city’s offer to provide planners/help to set this up. It’s probably more trouble than it’s worth.

What makes these fools think they have any power in negotiating? Seriously.

Sounds like Occupy Edmonton was taken down by police this morning.

Weren't the idiots in Edmonton on private property - some corporation's lawn? I'm surprised they stayed this long without clearing out the garbage.

Yup they were camping on a vacant/park lot owned by a development company in Edmonton. The company had long allowed the lot to be an urban park and allowed the public use of it, but it was never city owned for the sake of the occupy edmonton folks. The corporation did take a "hands off" approach at first (probably assuming like Nenshi that the cold would take care of it), but eventually they involved the police.

I admit I didn't follow Occupy Edmonton that closely but it at least sounds like they were a bit more respectful of the community/public than the Calgary group. They were content to protest without demanding free condoms and such.

This is embarrassing. Montreal is clearing them out before we are? Someone needs to sack up and curb stomp some hippies.

Feeling a bit sorry for the floudering Occupy movement, an admitted "right wing media ######bag" offers some helpful strategies - serious ones - the movement should use to right the ship and get it back on message and away from the sleepover tactics.

To add to this, Melcor finally asked them to leave and filed a complaint with the EPS but wouldn't ask police to force them out, but rather let police decide. I guess they decided at 4am. 40-50 cops is what I've heard - still a waste of police resources if you ask me, thanks to these occupiers.

I'm amazed at how much attention this movement is receiving, especially from critics. Ignoring them would be the worst thing that can happen to them.

One of the protesters was arrested today. I think it was posted by a fellow protester, not sure how it helps promote their cause, except show some aren't playing with a full deck..

Lol, not exactly Oakland is it? I guess they were trying to show police brutality to get public support but cps is a little to smart for that.

There is scarcely a topic not covered, including alternative currencies, goverments, etc, etc. . . . . . and its a readable adventure with a murder mystery woven through it.

Kim Stanley Robinson, however, is an idealist and a dreamer. That's okay in sci fi but, from a practical view, a real Martian society probably wouldn't work out his way.

Great read though. About 2,000 pages in paperback I think.

The mars trilogy is definitely worth a read.

Also, there's an anthology of short stories--some of which are set in the same universe--called The Martians.

I found it mostly disappointing and self-indulgent. Some of its stories are in the same universe as the trilogy, but others are in various alternate-timeline versions of the continuity, with the same characters but incompatible events. And there's no advance indication of which is which, and sometimes it's hard to tell.

Some of it is interesting, but overall it lacks focus, and I don't think it's something a less successful and famous author would've been allowed to get away with.

But the main reason I still own this book is because it has a section containing the entire Constitution of Mars, followed by some notes and commentaries from the constitutional convention depicted in the novels. I think there are some interesting ideas there about how to organize a government.
