I was in class so I missed Jay Mohz! Best fill in host for Rome.
The difference for me now is that when I tune into the FAN now in the afternoon, once Bryn starts talking, I change the station. I'll flip back and see if they have a good guest or something, but he's just not good. He sounds more like a caricature of what host should sound like, instead of a host himself.
Its like the flames and the fan are on similar trajectories. Not a lot of talent, aging core, grasping to the 04 cup run.

That comment would mean a little more if there was any sports radio competition in this city.
I've enjoyed the morning show since Warrener has joined them. Unlike most people, I hated Richards and couldn't stand to listen to him so I was really happy when we left and I think the new morning team is doing a great job.
Bryn on the other hand, good grief. I've really been trying to give him the benefit of the doubt while hoping he gets more comfortable and less awkward. But, as we all know, this just isn't happening. I agree with the posters here who feel he comes across as unprepared and, in my mind, almost unprofessional - especially when he tries to make lame jokes while doing the Around The NHL segments and the like. It really throws off the rhythm of the show and seems to frustrate Pat.
Also, I wasn't very impressed in the preseason when he and Pat were talking about a suspendable incident that happened the night before and Bryn said he hadn't see it! He had to ask Pat if it was really as bad as everyone was saying. Just made for really bush league radio - something Kerr would have never let happen.

Agree entirely - my feelings re Richards by the end were similar to yours, and I like the current AM show. I think all 3 interact well and do a good job. The afternoon is a dead zone by comparison.

I personally was a huge fan of Mike Richards and thought he was great at the interviews and skits etc. Having said that I don't mind the morning show and think Warrener is a great add to that team. I have always been a Boomer fan and wished he was the guy in Bryn's spot.
I really don't like the "thats stupid" or "20 questions" portions of the morning show and don't find the segments funny too often.

Agree with the not liking the "That's Stupid" segments, but I disagree with the 20 questions. Although some of the questions are kind of dumb, some are actually pretty interesting and relevant to hockey. It sparks more discussions, which I enjoy.

Ya 20 questions can be hit or miss for me. I don't totally hate it but it is not replacing fake Jim Rome, Flames of our Lives, or Don Cherry impressions in my book.
I do love when Warrener tells some stories about his playing days though.

Bryn sucks ...... I can't listen to him and I grew up listening to Lethbridge radio, we're talking AM radio complete with farm and livestock reports.
Warrener makes the morning show IMO.

So I've spoken to many in the radio industry: Mike Richards, Gerry Forbes, Peter Maher, Rob kerr...ect
Mike Richards in real life is as funny as he is on the radio, fairly decent dude too. Fake Jim Rome even made my then girlfriend laugh. Like him or hate him, he has comedic talent.
Some of the "shtick" the morning guys do can be downright painful. Warrener has been a first line addition (or top D pairing if you will) to the station.
I think Walker is underrated. He's just the straight man to, lets face it, other straight men, so sometimes he seems miscast.
Bryn = but no one's laughing.

It might just be the timing that I happen to consistently turn it on at but it seems like every time that I tune into the morning show they are talking about Turtle and Walkers sport select picks.
I understand that there is some interest in this from listeners and perhaps a segment every morning outlining some good picks or interesting lines would be cool, but it seems to be on way more than once and has a lot more to do with the personal experience of two random dudes rather than actual informative or interesting information.
Again it may just be my bad luck of when I tune in but I swear in November I heard more about Turtle owing Walker beer than I did about the Flames in when the morning show was on and I listened.

I'm too lazy to go back and quote you guys but why are people saying the morning show is getting ripped? Bryn has been getting universally trashed here on CP, the morning show has pretty positive reviews. Based on this thread, I'd say mixed to positive reviews.
Only people that don't seem to like it prefer comedy in the morning which they miss from the Richards days.
If you want a comedy show every morning get Sat radio and listen to Richards, or better yet put in a George Carlin CD.
I love the morning show. Nice mix of shooting the #### and talking sports in a serious manner. I like Richards but I don't need the class clown on the radio every AM to enjoy it.

Bryn is very frustrating to listen to! I used to be pumped to listen to the Fan after work and especially on my drive home after every game, now it's painful listening because of Bryn! I've done some radio before and he clearly isn't a host. When he's on the air with others he is meant to be host (especially after games) and they can't stay on topic because of his unprofessionalism and lack of skill.
Please replace Bryn Fan 960!!!

I actually really like the morning show. I think Walker and Boomer make a pretty decent pair, then throw Rhett in...I get quite a few laffs in the morning. I think they're alright.
The afternoon show is a disaster. I don't mind Steinberg, but this Griffiths seems to be out of his element totally. Not sure where he should be, but not paired with Steinberg, or on a sports program. Those phony, deep sighhhhhs he takes as soon as he starts lamenting the Flames woes drive me!! I doubt he gives a rats ass emotionally about the Flames as he just moved here. But he does those big, deep breaths into the mike every 5 minutes....like he just can't figure out how to fix those darn Flames and doesn't know what to do but jump off a cliff!

Last friday morning Warner got me laughing, he was telling a story about him and his wife/friends (I think) who went on a vacation and their was a screw up with the boat they were taking to go cruise around the ocean, they ended up getting another boat, which had just been used by a celebrity and they all ended up just getting loaded and one of Warrener's friends grabbed a bird, lol...I forgot the details, but it was great.
Boomer also told a story after that was great, haha.

I listened to Bryn a lot when I was going to university up in Edmonton and he was better than what he is now but maybe that's because up in Edmonton he had to carry Jake Daniels on the Team's morning show.

i wish they got Peter Loubardias to do the afternoon show or host the Flames game instead. i always enjoy it when he used to guest host. The guy is a wealth of knowledge and knows what he's talking about. Bryn Griffiths is really painful to listen to and truly in over his head.

At the time I think Bryn was the Program Director of 1260. So maybe he's better at that. I mean he paired himself with the worst morning zoo jockey in history. So he looked serviceable my comparison.

This is one things that bothered me with Richards. He expounded on his sports select picks a lot, and even with guests. I am not sure what bothered me about it, but it seemed out of place, and like a conspicuous product placement. Possibly because it was football picks, which I have even less interest in hearing about.
He and Peter Maher did a charity hockey game, and they were both really good. I always loved his fake Hasek interviews.

Well people won't listen forever if they don't like it. Considering Richards was an impossible act to replace I feel the morning show with Warrener has done an admirable job. It's not as good (imagine how good Warrener and Richards would have been) as it would be with Richards but who really though it would be better?
The afternoon show is just bad though.

Afternoon
I remember when it was Joe Sports and Rob Kerr which was fun to listen to. I like Bryn, but find it annoying when Steinberg makes every effort to dissagree with him on everything. Warrener needs some serious practice. If he cleaned his delivery up, he'd be the host because you can tell he's quite a character and has serious cred.

Richards self created on air characters were a good laugh. He had great impressions. I have always liked comedians that have a solid lineup of voices.
Richards was more than a sports radio guy he was a personality.
The only thing that sort of irritated me was when he went on an on about his weekend exploits.
But Richards was one of the top in the business JMO.
As for Bryn he is the complete oppisite of Richards. No comedy, but that isn't why he was hired.
Apparently he is suppose to be a experienced sports guy.
I don't see it. What I hear is a antogonistic, dry, boring time waster.
That is relentless about his stance on whatever the topic is.
I have heard enough of his core loyalty to the Oilers and Eskimos to conclude I will never accept him as a ( Calgary) sports radio host.
When Bryn comes on a click off.
Bryn is the absolute worst decision by Kirch to host the after game calls.
