Those were the style I remember as well, I didn't even notice this pic was the wrong way around with the pointy end. They had a strange wax base too, maybe part of the manufacturing process, or some higher purpose.

I was a fan of the occassional Big Turk too. I do love the new advertising though: "Low in Fat"....Yeah I'm pretty sure a candy bar made almost entirely of sugar doesn't have any fat in it. Wouldn't go as far as to suggest that pure sugar is a health product though.

Beavertails. I lived in Ottawa for a while and just don't understand why they aren't on every corner nationwide.

Hotdog Day! When I was a kid, we had these days in school once a month where you would get hotdogs, ice cream and orange drink or chocolate milk. You had to order a month in advance and woe to the poor kid that had forgot to get their hotdog day order in before the deadline. Boy was I shocked and saddened when leaving elementry school to learn that hotdog day was no more.

Not a food I miss, but let's talk about cereal boxes. I remember the most exciting thing about going grocery shopping was hitting up the cereal aisle and seeing which brand was giving away the best trinket as a prize inside. I would always have to do a cost/benefit analysis on the type of cereal and prize being offered. On one hand, you didn't want to buy a gross cereal because you would have to eat all of it before you got new stuff. On the other hand, there was no way I could convince my mom to get choco-anything. The next morning, opening up the cereal box and digging your little mitts to the bottom of the box trying to find your treasure was magical.

I remember the pinnacle of free cereal box prizes was when some cereal had free Wacky Wall Crawlers. Oh man, that was a BONANZA!

Cereal I miss? C3PO's.

I know what you're saying, even now I look and do a cost/benefit analysis but it's not for a toy it's for a t-shirt or $5 gas card. But I still look to see what the toys are, and there aren't any! What the heck happened? No toys in the cereal, no prizes in the chips, no free pop's under the cap of the 600mL (not 591mL) you just bought.

I kinda feel bad for kids these days, where are these simple joys?

You know what I fondly remember? When Pizza Hut tasted good to me. Stupid getting old and falling out of love with crap.

Not really food per say but I was devastated as a kid when Double-Cola stopped being available in my hometown. To me and a lot of people it blew Coke and Pepsi away.

Bad marketing I guess because it's still being made in the US.

I remember there used to be a hot-dog place in Northhill mall called sailor Steamer hot dogs. Loved getting those after a visit to the dentist. Also Willy's hamburgers. How about Texas Donut days in elementary. I remember kids buying 10 of those things to take home to the family! Ahhhh the good ol days....

I really miss the variety of junk food we used to have. Canada really gets the short end of the stick compared to the cool stuff they have in the states. People look at me like I am crazy when I stock up on Cherry Coke and A&W cream soda, Idaho Spuds, Easy Cheeze, etc. when I am coming back from trips to the states. If those Americans know one thing, it is definitely junk food.

Not sure if it was mentioned already, but I remember this amazing ad campaign for the McDLT. I didn't really like this burger, but thought I'd add it for nostalgic value.

Market Mall had one too. They put seasoning salt on their fries.

Flake, along with a few other candies i've seen in this thread are all available in the banff candy stores.

tried a flake last summer for the first time, it was some good, airy chocolate
