STOOPS! Stoops called timeout, Baylor were going to run out the clock and settle for overtime. Baylor says "ok, we'll just go down for a TD"

This was one of the most exciting days I can remember in CFB. I feel for Oregon and Oklahoma fan, but this almost ensures a Bama vs LSU national title game barring Bama doesn't lose to Auburn. To top it all off was that FSU lost!!

There are lots of problems with the BCS, but how exactly would a playoff help nights like tonight?
Three top 5 teams lose...and all of them would still likely qualify for a playoff. Instead of playing for the championship they're playing for seeding in a playoff. That's hardly comparable drama.
In a playoff world the biggest game of the day was Michigan/Nebraska and tonight's craziness is an afterthought.

We already saw LSU play Oregon and Alabama. We have not seen them play Oklahoma or OSU. Do you really wanna see rematches? Plus do you really want your boys to be embarrassed by LSU again? I mean their offense is Anemic , they played on a neutral field and they still dropped 40 on you. It could be a blood bath since the title game is in the bayou.

That was to Ole Miss, it was also a ONE point loss, you're only upset because they beat your "unstoppable" OU offense and won the title. But go ahead with your Tebow Gator envy because that seems to be the only thing you can bring up is Tim's promise that was kept when they beat OU in the title game.

Apparently Arizona is basically a "home game" for Auburn too since the ducks were outnumbered there too. When will Oregon fans figure out that their hippy school isn't a real southern football school? the southern schools will out sell Oregon every game except at Autzen. Hell Ohio State, Penn State, Iowa, would outsell Oregon in Arizona too. Oregon doesn't travel well compared to those other schools. So the "home game" excuse is just that.

I'm not sure that Robert Griffin shouldn't be the frontrunner for the Heisman right now. That dude is unbelievable.

There's also the fact that LSU beat Alabama on the road. Why should Bama get a second chance when they already had the advantage of being at home? At least when Oregon lost they were essentially on a road game. Losing the first game of the season compared to the end of the season should count for something too - DeAnthony Thomas isn't going to hand LSU two TDs I'd imagine.
It's kind of funny that Boise St. managed to lose in the one season where they actually had a legitimate chance of playing for the title.
|
I don't care if bama vs LSU is a rematch or not. No one can honestly say that those aren't the two best teams in the country. as for WPDucksFan who said "well if it wasn't for two fumbles oregon would of won" if Bama had a kicker they would of beat LSU at home. Bama lost to LSU by a FG in OT... I would be willing to bet that the next game wouldn't a 9-6 game either.

He should be, yes. Unfortunately the Heisman has become the equivalent of a HS president vote, it's a popularity contest. Your team has more than 1 loss? You're out of the discussion.

LSU is the team that gets screwed the most out of this whole thing. If they beat Arkansas and beat UGA in the SECCG they will most likely play Bama again and have to play an extra game (must win) and beat bama twice to win a title while Bama only had to beat them once to win the title. Even if Bama loses to LSu in the title game they will add it to the 13 that they already claim now.

Basically, (assuming the win tonight) as long as they win one of their last two, they're golden.
|
If they lost to Arkansas that would create the dreaded three way tie for the SEC west. With LSU losing to Arkansas and Arkansas losing to Bama, while bama lost to LSU that would ruin the tie breaker. So it would go to the highest ranked BCS team that would rep the SEC west in the title game and IDC, If Arkansas wins in Baton Rouge Arkansas will be the highest ranked west team and they would go to the seccg. killing the lsu season with one swoop.

I use to kick in High School and it's a big difference in CFB. The hash marks are wider compared to the goal posts. Plus in HS you get to use a tee to kick from and in CFB you cant. It's a night and day difference between the two, watching that poor Oregon kicker had me sick to my stomach.

Is this a joke? Maybe its the BCS's fault that it was -18 yesterday.
If anything a BCS 1 vs 2 helps. The only thing better this year (at this point anyway) is to not even have a final game.
There's one team head and shoulders above the rest. This system automatically puts them in a final game ... where they belong. A playoff would only screw that up.
Media told people a playoff is better now, it's the BCS's fault no matter what happens in the universe. Never mind that fact that far more often than not the best team ends up winning the championship.
Btw how the ratings for the regular season shaping up this year and what has been the trend over the last 10? Now, how about NCAA Basketball?

Who is #2 and why do they get it? And here is why its uch a gong show...right now LSU could go out and not even win their own conference, yet be the top seed in the NC game. How's that work anyhow?

How is that? If they are head and shoulders the best, they go and win their way to the title, like every other single sport in the world.

Tell that to a 14-0 Auburn team that never even got in the NC game.

WTF does this have to do with anything in regards to determining a NC team? Just obfuscating the real argument?
