I have checked the settings a few times for the portal and it is set to 720p for HD and 480i for SD. If I unplug the portal and re-start it, the issue goes away. Had to do that about 5 times last night.
Anyone else have that issue?

I think it is recommended that you only select the max resolution supported for your TV. Try setting only 720p.

So now, none of the TV show listings are showing up on my program guide. It is just displaying the name of the channel where it normally displays the show name. That means the PVR doesn't record because it doesn't know what is on. I tried the on-line chat tech support. Wow, they are brutal. They admitted that all they can tell me to do is reboot it. When that doesn't work, they have to send out a tech. Since I work during the day, the next time they could get a tech to my house was next Tuesday! Brutal.
Anyone else have the TV listings disappear?

That will set you up with 99% of the codes you need right away. after that I did some tweaking for a few extra codes using the learn feature in the Harmony software.
If you google "Shaw Gateway Harmony" or add in "Moxi Harmoney codes" you should see a forum with instructions on how to do this. It works quite well.

Just a quick update for Harmony users out there. I had problems this weekend with the gateway, the exit button on a PVR recording was acting like the delete button.
Anyways, Shaw is now in the list of ore programmed commands. Just choose Digital Set Top Box then Shaw then MP2000. Everything is fixed now.

Did you reboot the Gateway or the Portal?

Both. I have had a few other random issues that were solved with a reboot of the Gateway, so I was hoping that would fix this too. No luck.
I just find it amazing that telling me to reboot it is the only solution that Shaw Tech Support has without sending out a tech.
Frustrating.

As someone who doesn't own a Harmony yet but is planning on getting one, can you explain what you mean by this?
Can you connect the remote to your computer and just load in a "Shaw" profile based on the Arris portals?

Yes, exactly. You set up "Devices" (tv, stereo, DVD) for your Harmony, then associate "Actions" (like watch tv) with several of these "Devices". The Harmony will then fire those up at once.
So bottom line is yes, when you choose the "Digital Set Top Box" Device on the first "Add Device" pull down, the Manufacturer list will contain Shaw, then you type MP2000 into the model textbox.

Right now my TSN HD channel is showing the feed from Omni. I can watch TSN SD, but it's not the same. I have a call into Shaw, but no response yet.
I'm at the point where I wish I hadn't gotten the Gateway and had kept the Motorola HD PVR.

This is exactly the post that i was fearing that i would eventually read.
i am at exactly the point where my great deal for the last year has expired and the massive new bill for next month just arrived. i knew that this was going to happen...so i am not surprised, nor am i surprised that i have to make changes to my shaw plans.
i played with the online "personalizer" (which for the record is quite far from the truth) and i arrive at the point where i have to do something to get my costs down. can shaw not just offer a plan where the hd users don't pay for sd, and vice versa?
ironically, the best way to maximize the utility of shaw is to move to a model with the gateway and portals, otherwise i have to have a bunch of point solutions, or sacrifice the design of my home entertainment, or stop watching the TV i want (and family).
it is funny, but if i want to watch the flames in hd, i have to go with the basic, and then sports 1. sorry just venting...i know it is the same for everyone.
to stay on topic...i get to the point of going with the arris product, and then i remember this thread, and i wonder about the experience that results. i probably will go with the arris...but it just makes me wonder/worry.
thanks to squiggs and everyone for posting their experiences in this thread.

I have the minimum SD channels (up to about 29 or so) which I don't watch and then all HD channels, plus High Speed internet for $94 per month. It's available for the Gateway or non Gateway systems.

I was in exactly the same boat a month ago. I did all kinds of research, looked at what Telus offered, and in the end this is what I did:
Home phone basic
High speed internet
Digital TV package
HD Plus
That gets you to something like $140 a month. Then I traded in my PVR and got the Gateway with 4 portals. That is $18 a month for 36 months. I have not regretted that decision - the Gateway has been awesome and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Shaw gateway survey
Hey guys,
First time poster here. I am a member on other forums and created a survey for the shaw gateway, that the results are intended to be shared with everyone including shaw. I am a shaw gateway owner and felt that our voices need to be heard collectively.
Please fill out the survey. Once it reaches over 50 to 100 responses, i will post the results here so everyone sees the feedback from gateway customers.

So far, 11 people have filled it out

Some good news that i read on multiple forums is that there is a new code release coming dec 7th that is focused on fixes. Version 7.0.1b
Then in the early new year another one is coming with more fixes and features that are being enabled. Maybe we might see dlna finally turned on.
