Chris Drury was the favorite player of a guy I was dating at the time I picked my username. Kinda ironic as I spent years hating the guy before being traded to Calgary solely because he played for the Avalanche and in my teens I was a huge Red Wings fan.
You can mark me down in the column of people that would love to change their usernames.

My name is Justin, my favorite number is 3, I'm a d-bag and put both on the outside of my name.
If I could I'd change my name to JPeeper though.

This name was not a good choice.. I wish I had chosen something better.
Count me in with those who would change their usernames.

I played a game called Call of Cthulhu once and if I'm correct it is based on a novel by Lovecraft isn't it? I want to read his stuff.

LGA = Lets Go Avalanche, or Lanky, glaring Asian, for my tendency to glare at people and because I'm lanky. Quite self explanatory now that I think about it.

Space Ace was a freaking impossible game, though. More fun to watch other people play than waste tokens on.

I chose a name that is plain as vanilla and utterly unrelated to me.
I am the most generic of posters.

Back in 2001 I needed a username for a forum and I was (and still am) highly unoriginal, so I looked around my room for ideas and grabbed one of the Wheel of Time books I was reading. Looking through character names in the glossary I chose Mazrim Taim because it sounded coolest. Later I would shorten it to just Mazrim.
The funny part is that I still haven't read past book 9 of The Wheel of Time so when people ask me about the series because of my username, I can't even tell them what I think of recent developments. I don't even know if Mazrim is a dreadlord or some bitter dude.

It's Finnish and means "Self".
I originally picked it because I wanted an irc-nick that would be impractical to use in RL, because calling people by their irc-nicks was pretty common among my friends in those days.
It's also a reference to Marvel-comics character Warlock. An alien on Earth, he's a sympathetic and well-meaning character, but one that often misunderstands things around him or is misunderstood because of his non-human way of thinking, thus causing unintentional harm. Plus he speaks funny.
So yeah, a bit of a teenage angst thing, but not something I have totally grown out of.
I haven't read Marvel comics in years, so I don't know what's the character like now, this was fourteen years ago.
It's also easy to use for puns in Finnish.

I was SutterHater on the old FOI forums, circa '97 when Brian Sutter was the coach. When things moved around to CalgaryPuck I was spending time on a lot of other forums and kind of drifted away from here a bit. When I did sign back up in 2003, Brian Sutter was long gone, so SutterHater seemed kind of unnecessary. I was optimistic things were looking up for the team around that time, hence TurnedTheCorner.

Just reading through this thread, I love how many people were either drunk or high when signing up. I don't think I was, but I've definitely been either of those things on here in the past.
