The new goggles also do nothing.

Don't expect much, but they could be good for light use.

I suspect a mediocre screen, resistive touch, and low memory, but still it would probably be good to view videos or surf or play some games.

More info might be here:

Doesn't look that great. Low resolution screen, only 3 hours of battery life, and there are discrepancies on what operating system it's on. (says Android 2.3 at the top but then says 2.2 in the details near the bottom). Lastly, it only has 2gb of storage which is not a lot IMO.

If it's similar to this tablet linked, it likely has a resistive touch screen

If you don't need a lot of apps and would only use it sparingly, I would consider the Playbook on sale for $200 starting this Friday.

Agreed, the Kindle Fire seems pretty good. Another solution would be the Kobo Vox which would be more accessible to Canadians.

These are dime a dozen Android tablets from China. Goto a place like dealextreme.com and you'll seen tons of these things.

Given $129 I would try looking for a Nook Color (should be cheaper given the release of the Nook Tablet) from Barnes and Noble. I'd root it and install a new kernel and rom.

That's an even worse choice that will restrict you in many ways. RIM is going down the toilet, Playboy will only have partial Android app compatibility, the RIM app store is a bare cupboard, etc.
