It's a little early to write off McNeil. In his defence he plays for a last place team though I'm happy with the Bartschi pick.

Reinhart - 1 goal, even in a 2-1 loss
Leach - 1 assist, even in a 2-1 loss
Elson - 1 assist, -1 in a 4-3 shoot out loss

Only three Flames prospects playing in the WHL tonight.

I'd be happy if couple of all these high scoring junior players turned to be top 6 forwards on the Flames.

Slick shootout move and a genius play to score the gw in overtime.

Really seems like Baertschi and Rattie have some crazy chemistry.

He'd be a good pick up if the right deal came up imo

The Flames seem to LOVE Carter Bancks. He and Bouma play a very up-tempo two-way checking game and they are valuable components of their teams. However, the influx of experienced, established AHL forwards has moved them off the scoring lines a bit.

Right, but Bouma doesn't really deserve top-6 time. He's never been big point-getter at the WHL level.

What I see Troy doing though, is playing Bouma, Armstrong, Bancks, Patterson, etc. quite a bit to motivate the team and shift momentum.

Their roles on this team are clear and I think will translate quite well to the NHL if given the chance. We know what Bouma can do at the NHL level. He can do just as well as TK. I think if Bancks starts putting up the points and can stay healthy, he'll get a serious look next season at being a bottom-6 player with the Flames.

And on that vein, Justin Dowling is my pick for the team's next Carter Bancks. He's doing pretty well in Utah (11 points in 12 games) and is among the league scoring leaders for rookies.

Why the green text?

If the Flames could get that, it would be a great return for Iginla

Probably because it's in the same vein as "Iginla for Crosby".

You are missing one

LW - Turner Elson Signed Undrafted September 22nd, 2011 - 30th in WHL scoring

19 games - 11g - 10a - 21p

“Turner Elson was a player we had on our draft List at this past summer’s Draft; however, with only five selections in the seven rounds we were not able to land him at that time,” said Flames General Manager Jay Feaster. “Having him come to rookie camp and then participate in main camp and play a pre-season game enabled our entire hockey operations department to evaluate him as a player and get to know him as a person. There was no question that we wanted to add him to our organization and we are thrilled to have him under contract. He thinks the game very well and displays what we consider to be very good hockey sense. He also competes hard every shift and is responsible in all three zones. We look forward to monitoring his progress this year in the WHL.”

Five WHL forward prospects scoring on a point per game basis ... impressive again, who said we had no prospects?

Seriously though, I am happy that the guys are doing fine. Baertschi seems to be a beast out there, I'd be really surprised if this wasn't his last junior season. And the 2010 draft looks extremely good. I expected good things from Reinhart and Holland after their 2010-11 season, but Ferland is really shocking me. Didn't see this kind of production in him. Same goes for Elson - for an undrafted forward, he seems to do very fine.

Really looking forward to have Reinhart, Holland, Ferland and Leach in Abbotsford next year

reinhart appears to have really quiet down. I read an article stating that he really ought to be doing better if he wants to show he can be an offensive player in the NHL, especially considering his age in the league.

Is that an unfair assessment?

want to share the article?

Basically, Reinhart is scoring at the same pace as last year. He had 34+45 for 79 points in 71 games last year - his current numbers would translate to 34+48 for 82 points over the same amount of games. Surely an improvement would be great ... on the other hand, Reinhart is more of a two-way-forward than a pure scorer, if I remember correctly.

I think so. The Ice are a pretty defensive team and are seem to try and sneak out low goal differential wins. Reinhart is very much the offensive heart of the team and him, combined with overage goalie Lieuwen, are basically their keys to winning game in and game out. It's pretty forgivable if they don't put up all-star scoring numbers this year, as their offensive depth basically consists of Reinhart and Ismond. Had they more depth like they did last year, his numbers would be better. However, they lost some key pieces to graduation (Their loss of a stud D, McNabb, seems to have really hurt them...Leach is good and all, but he hasn't been as dominant as McNabb yet)

I think Reinhart is just find where he is right now and is setting up for a good 2/3 C job in the NHL.

Watch him in the Super Series and decide for yourself. It's tomorrow I think. WHL vs Russia.

yeah, the games are tomorrow and on Thursday. Reinhart is playing both games, while Ferland and Holland will only play the second one.
