Putting an X beside the Tea Party and racism is highly amusing.
Actually it is very true. There hasn't been a shortage of people willing to run up to the camera and spout their stupidity to a camera about Jews controlling the world, etc... at the occupy camps. Now that the occupy crowd has jumped over the edge it seems there are alot of people trying to draw parallels between the two groups.
At the Tea party events whatever racism there was was either trumped up bs from
hate mongers trolling for hate and finding one loon in a crowd of thousands.
people associating any criticism of Obama with racism
people immediately associating anything conservative with racism
people who deliberately went to the event with racist signs to make the Tea party look racist.
The only thing that these two groups have in common is they feel government has let them down. The Tea Party, on the other hand, organized a political movement and the the totally bat#### crazy thing of voting for candidates they wanted in an election. Several of whom were not white. CRAZY!

I think Bloomberg has actually made the intelligent decision here in not allowing protesters back in prior to the hearing (about an hour away). If the order is reversed you have to go through the whole ordeal of clearing the park again, which is clearly a major public safety issue. It's much easier to keep people out and then let them in then it is to re-clear the park.

I'd be surprised if they're ordered to reopen it. It looks like it's a 'show cause' type of hearing, and the city could run down a list of dozens of reasons why tents, tarps etc. should be permanently removed. We've already had assaults, there's obvious sanitation issues, the local community is being negatively impacted and most importantly there are clear ongoing safety hazards when you setup a tent city in a public square.
The funny thing is I'd likely become much more supportive of the whole movement if they were showing up to protest every day while respecting the fact that people live and work in the community. As is they've shown themselves to be self important twits who think their cause elevates them above the interests of everyone else. The judge could be doing them a favor by preventing them from turning the area into a shanty town over the winter.
