When I had to let someone go at work last week... that really shook me.

I got to a weird tipping point about 2 or 3 years ago when I realised that I had run out of time to make enough money to buy an 'expensive' house ( 4 or 5 mill out here) but at the same time, having grown up in poverty and being scared of it all my life, that I had enough money in the bank and have paid off my mortgage and the like that I could live on my assets and be reasonable happy for the rest of my life.

It was an odd sense of dissapointment and relief at the same time, kind of like coming in second.

I went through that earlier this year. It is definitely a very difficult thing to go through. I lost a lot of sleep for about a week, and the guy totally deserved to be let go. It should have been an easy decision.

You literally crapped your pants? You're older than I thought.

Yeah, that isn't fun. I've had to do it a few times - it gets a lot easier after you've popped your cherry.

Probably around the time I played my first game in the NHL... has yet to happen.

When my Texas Rangers blew the World Series, and I didn't cuss, throw anything or break anything. I simply stood up, left the room, took a couple deep breaths and then sat back down on the couch and just hoped for the best.

When I was younger I would have broken something if not everything.

Mind you, I'm still the guy that tells a really bad joke to break tension. "Mom it's can't be the flesh eating disease, there's no teeth marks!"

I considered myself "grown up" when I moved out at 18.

Now 18 years later I own my home, married & the 1st baby just arrived...
Last but not least we are purchasing a new minivan tomorrow.

After being anti minivan for all these years, it's now a necessity.

So, I guess I'm an official "grown up" now.
