Default When Aliens attack on the discovery channel

Did anyone have a chance to check out this show.

Its based around the premise of an alien invasion in the future with interviews by weapons designers, Nasa Engineers, Anthropologists etc.

Basically it simulates what would happen if Aliens invade our planet one day, at first we try to fight back with our advanced weapons and are completely wiped out. they ask why Aliens would come here and the theory is that it wasn't for water or minerals since there is plenty of that in the known universe, they come for the two things that are almost exclusive to our planet. Chlorophyll and proteins.

As the Aliens wipe out our defenses and even our experimental rumored weapons suck as rail guns and the X-37B Airforce and high tech energy weapons, the humans desperately hit the alien with a 250 kiloton nuke, but as one scientist says Aliens that can travel across space at high velocity get hit thousands of times a day by tiny rocks traveling at high speeds imparting kinetic energy several times that of a nuclear explosion.

In the end Man kind goes to asymmetrical warfare tactics and try biological warfare which also fails.

finally they do defeat the aliens with a decidedly low tech solution.

The show is very well done, the CGI is excellent and the interviews and examples of how things work is really interesting.

Do we beat the aliens with boards with nails in them?

Their little mushy bodies wouldn't be able to withstand the awesomeness of a trusty Louisville Slugger.

If Aliens ever attacked humans we would get to feel what an ant feels like when we walk on them...we would be soooo screwed.

That said, don't hold your breath waiting for it to happen..because it won't!

Actually its a funny thing, but the theory was that humanity would indeed be ants, but the one thing is that you might be able to step on one or two ants but you will never find or be able to kill all 7 billion of them, and ants are almost always victorious against larger and more intelligent foes because of it.

They talked about a swarm of ants taking on a frog, the frog can't jump away from a swarm of ants, and once the ants get a hold on the frog they kill it in a hurry.

One could hope I guess.but I suspect any alien wouldn't be like a frog to an ant. Possibly a frog with a flamethrower though.

One great thing was that America would role out its cyberwarfare division and they talked about computer viruses, and one Nasa Scientist totally deadpans, "Yeah that wouldn't work, their computers would be different"

Take that Jeff Goldbloom

The show talked about Aliens harvesting trees for bio fuel. People would then attach bombs to trees and when the alien ships took up the trees they would explode inside.

So people would attach bombs to every tree on earth?

Would alien ships just fly up near a mountain or the middle of a forest and grab those trees?

Apparently these intergalactic traveling aliens haven't worked out how to steal or build the explosive sniffers we have in most airports.

Any area that had trees were targets.

There were some pretty big holes in their reasoning/explanations, but it was entertaining.
