I wish him the best. He deserves to play in the NHL, especially after his 13 points in 7 games.

Well, that takes a serious threat away from the Heat but good for Kolanos, he deserves another shot now that he appears healthy.
With Kolanos gone, and Byron in the NHL hopefully Wahl earns some ice-time and makes the best of it.

Wow. Very unexpected. What gives? Did he do something to piss Troy or Jay off in his last game or what? We are missing part of the story. You don't cut your best player for no reason…

part of the issue, I would guess, is the AHL only allows 6 players to be dressed with 260 games of pro experience, and one player with 320 games experience. The Heat have Walter, Wilson, Laing, Desbiens, Piskula, Ivanans, and Meyer.

So does this mean if Hagman winds up clearing re-entry waivers one of these guys will need to be released to make room for him, and then another one will also have to be let go if they choose to dump Stajan to Abby as well??

you can only dress 7 'vets', but you can have more on the roster. With Kolanos, they had 8 vets on the roster, so Ivanans sat a lot.

Canada 02: Thanks for that fascinating factoid. What exactly is the purpose of limiting the number of vets? and where do they go once they get pushed out of the AHL?

Because the AHL is the self-proclaimed "premier development league". I would imagine those rules are in place so young players can develop. Just my guess.

Been told that Krys Kolanos is still on the road with #AHLHeat. His PTO expired after Friday's game. Heat play next in San Antonio.

I wonder if he'll get an NHL two way, or an AHL deal....if he re-ups with our organization.

The answer to that may very well depend on wether Hagman is claimed or not

Wow, good catch... I actually never considered that.
I wonder if Kolanos' contract is dependent on the fate of Hagman.

Yeah, good point.
I hope someone snags Hagman, and the Flames give Kolanos a two-way.
With the ways he's dominated the AHL this year, I really wouldn't mind seeing Kolanos getting one last shot now that he's healthy.
Odds are slim he'd succeed, but you never know.....a lot of skill there.

I don't think so. If Hagman clears re-entry waivers then he's technically not in the AHL anymore, he would be back in the NHL, so there would be no need for Abbotsford to release anyone. (Assuming I understood what you meant correctly.)

So Hagman claimed by the ducks, what happens to this guy now? Does Calgary try to sign him on a 2-way?
