I always get one and it ends up falling out somewhere so by the 11th I have gone through 3 or more and when I go to the Museum for the ceremonies, it is a yearly ritual to stop and grab another at the Marda Loop Macs.
One of these days, I will remember to order a bunch of these Poppy Pins for each jacket and be done with it.

I don't wear them. I donate to the bins whenever I see them; usually the loose change in my pockets. I do find it funny when somebody comments about me not wearing one. Like pinning a piece of red plastic to my shirt for half a month is the pinnacle of respect.

When I was a kid, I used to love them because I thought they looked like bullet wounds.
I usually get a few of them and decorate my vehicle with them.

It may be a piece of useless red plastic to you, but to many it is a powerful symbol, and to ignore that just because it is meaningless to YOU is disrespectful.

The "many" need to lighten up. People can memorialize things in their own way.
This reminds me of the people that think President Obama (candidate at the time) was disrespecting the U.S. because he didn't put his hand over his heart during the national anthem/pledge of allegiance, or the people that freak out because some elected official didn't wear an American flag pin on their lapel.

There's a big difference between disrespect by omission and disrespect by commission.
Some guy walking down the street without a poppy on, not that big of a deal. But actively deciding "it's meaningless plastic so I aint wearin one" - that's wanton disrespect.

His donations are providing for more poppies for the folks that want to wear them, more power to him. I missed the part where Yasa said that he willingly engaged these people in conversation. It's really none of their business.

I like the little canadian flag as a pin. I have several and put them on all my coats. I also put my change in the collection boxes whenever I am buying something.

So what happens if Yasa is walking down the street? Because then he is technically "some guy walking down the street without a poppy on", which according to you is "not that big of a deal".
...and how do you know that the guys walking down the street didn't actively decide that it's meaningless?
What a bizarre post.

Hahaha, what? When did I say it was "useless" or "meaningless"? I said I don't wear them because I don't want to. It's my choice. I also said I still donate, which I do quite frequently. I don't know about you, but to me that isn't ignoring it. This is exactly how I get jumped on whenever I people see me not wearing a poppy.
I don't need to advertise the fact that I have great respect for soldiers, current and past. I don't need to wear a banner that screams "Look at me! I remember you for November!" I bought a "Support the Troops" magnet, but I didn't put it on my vehicle. I've sent letters and care packages to my friends in Afghanistan, but I didn't make a Facebook status about it, or wear a sign that says "look at my deed, what have you done today?" I speak to soliders or veterans when I see them, but I don't go on telling everyone else.
I don't wear a poppy, so what? You do, and that's great. We all have a choice in the matter, and it's not about respect. It's about not wanting to wear a poppy.

I went down to the monument where I live at 11am today with some coworkers. There was a pretty big turnout.

you can get these pins at the legion downtown
Some legions carry them (the poppy pins) and they work great. The legion near me said they where discontinued due to them defacing the poppy. I called the legion downton a few days back and picked up a bunch for me and some friends.
They are only $3 but they run out. The lady said she would order 2000 next year.
