I've seen Sunshine permanently ban skiers that lend out their cards or passes to others. They will also report it to the police.

Cards too? I've only seen that with season passes. Interesting.

I'll add that to my list of reasons not to go to Sunshine.

The Sunshine card I bought last year had my photo directly on it, so I doubt I could re-sell it even if I wanted to.

And to confirm what others have said, the cards pay for themselves after two uses.

What are peoples thoughts on my ability to get in a decent day over the weekend of Nov 26th? It'll likely be my only weekend in the area this winter and I'd love to get in some runs, but if it's just going to be of the wiwaxy variety it's probably not worth it.

I would just wait until a couple days before and then decide where you will go pending on snow conditions/amount of runs open. I'm gonna push up my favorite ski hill right now. according to the nakiska website this weekend

Quote:
Nakiska Ski Area is excited to be open for top to bottom skiing, now with the most ski runs and vertical in the Alberta Rockies, with great mid-winter snow conditions. Nakiska will be open this Friday November 11 – Monday November 14 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm and features a vertical of 2400 feet with 9 runs and 3 lifts to choose from, the longest run being 2.5 km.
All man made of course but the likely hood of hitting a rock also goes down! It will be nice with more then one choice for runs.

Which card? I bought the card from Safeway last year and didn't need a photo.

Doubtful you'll get a 'decent' day in, but if it's your only weekend there it'll be better than not going all season...

Lake Louise Opens to Cheers from Skiers & Riders

http://www.onthesnow.com/news/379/a/...-skiers-riders

Twenty-five centimeters of fresh snow earlier last week added to the mood, and bluebird skies lit up the rugged Canadian Rockies surrounding the resort.

“Every year with opening, there’s always a positive vibe,” Moynihan said. “But this year, there’s more due to the La Niņa forecast and such an incredible season of snow last year. People are generally excited to go skiing.”

The resort opened two lifts and four runs. Three features on Easy Street included a 40-foot box, a medium down rail and a ground box with a small jump.

Currently, lift tickets are half price during early season. Rates will go up as soon as more terrain is open.

Yeah, not expecting much but it might be worth it. Still beats east coast hills packed with guidos.

It was one of these: http://www.skibanff.com/liftpasses/s...e-marmot-cards

I bought it from Snow Central in the Beltline, and they took my photo just like it was a full season pass.

I've heard rumours that Revelstoke is opening early this year since they are expecting so much snow this month. They've already had 60+ cm and this is coming:

I'd say there's a very good chance of them hitting 125 cm within 2 weeks.

Whistler/Blackcomb is opening on November 18, 6 days earlier than expected.

Yup, looks like Revy is opening up in 2 weeks - well I know where I'll be that weekend.

With incredible early snowfall, Revelstoke Mountain Resort can’t wait any longer and excitedly launches into its 5th season with a Sneak Peek weekend for all skiers and snowboarders to enjoy! Snowfall to date has hit a whopping 193cm and has developed into a solid base of almost 100cm, allowing the resort to open both the Stoke and the Ripper high speed quad lifts on November 26th and 27th, 2011. For both days of operations, the resort is open to the public with the Revelation Gondola open for first upload at 8:30am, and the last chair on the Stoke at 3:00pm.

Fortress reopening would be unreal. The terrain there is so fun.

Hence why I suggested you would need skins. I'll include the green text next time.
