I don't know about you guys but it's very hard for me to find a cup of coffee that I actually like.
The nuances of just getting the right amount of bitterness and sweetness and avoiding sourness and burnt flavors and getting the right aromas, etc. make it very rare that I actually find a cup of coffee that I enjoy. The last double double I had from Timmy's tasted like sugary mud water.
Usually McDonalds is not bad. I always prefer Second Cup to Starbucks but generally avoid both.
I just drink tea now as it's less difficult to screw up...and no chai latte crap.

Maybe I'm just dumb on what the actual process is, but the process I see at starbucks is no different than that I see in any other coffee shops. Maybe I'm missing something.

WTF? Shame on you, Tim Horton's! Coffee is a man's drink! And we take our coffee black because we have big balls, big trucks, and we listen to AC/DC! Keep your frilly lady drinks to the inferior creatures with vaginas and their Marxist-Feminist Starbucks!
I had a latte once and immediately wanted to bang Justin Timberlake! Science!
Men! BLACK COFFEE! MANLY!!!

F that. I don't even drink coffee warm. I grind it up, snort it, spit it back into a cup and mix it with a combination of my own sweat and the juices from all the beautiful women I've beded, BECAUSE I'M A REAL MAN GOD DAMN IT! AND REAL MEN ARE DEFINED BY TWO THINGS: HOW WE DRINK OUR COFFEE AND HOW WELL WE DISPARAGE WOMEN!

Tims coffee just plain old black is terrible. Black coffee is decent but theirs is the worst.

Lol, you mean like how EVERYTIME I go to a Starbucks?? Do you even know how an espresso is made? Just because their machines are big, doesn't mean it's automatic....

It's essentially automatic. You're just pushing buttons and pulling a lever. The espresso is ground and packed automatically, and the steam wand shuts off at a certain temperature. "Real" espresso machines have the barista in control of everything.

I don't like Tim Horton's. First it's their coffee - second it's lining up in one of those awful, busy, noisy, dirty establishments. I hate the tan pants the people wear and those awful outfits. If very desperate I'll grab the coffee because I'm not a coffee snob. But I am a dump snob, I prefer my dumps to at least be half decent. As such I end up in a Starbucks or second cup most of the time.
Seriously, when the drive thru line up is actually causing congestion in the street feeding the parking lot or you don't want to park because you'll get blocked in by the drive through line up I seriously have no interest in going there.
That, and the coffee sucks.
McDonalds coffee I've enjoyed quite a few times. They're kinda dumpy places too! And the employees have similar outfits... I guess the coffee makes a bit of a difference!

Firstly, I have never wanted to sig a post more than the one above this sentence.
Secondly, McD's sucks at virtually everything, except coffee. For the run of the mill, under a toonie cup of coffee, McDonalds is from my experience, by far the best cheap cup nowadays. It beats the crap about of Tim's. Don't know why, it just does. If they could just figure out a cup/lid combo that doesn't f'n leak all over the place, it would be a damn near perfect cup of cheap coffee.
