So turns out the Gamecentre App for boxee is pretty useless right now. The app has no way of knowing if the stream is live or not and thus it just starts playing from the beginning of the gamecentre stream.

So if the gamecentre stream starts 2 hours before the game with the "this game will start soon" screen, then boxee will just play 2 hours of "this game will start soon" even if it's well into the game.

More info here:
http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=43370&page=11

On the plus side you can still view gamecentre in the Boxee Box webbrowser app, so all is not lost. But the native app is worthless in it's current form. Not sure if the folks with an Apple TV are having better luck.

I don't understand this either - I'll happily watch in-market or out-of-market commercials, and in fact either is less disruptive to viewing than when it blacks out and plays cheesy music where a commercial should be.

**UPDATE**
Boxee/NHL released an update for the Gamecentre App today which now gives the option of starting the stream live or from the beginning of the stream. So the App is no longer useless.

So at this point it's a suitable replacement for me VS cable. This is of course with a proxy work around to avoid local blackouts on Flames games.

Hey, so is it worthwhile to buy the NHL Centre Ice / Gamecenter package in Calgary? Is this the best option to getting the hockey games if you don't subscribe to any sports packages on Telus/Shaw? Also do you need separate subscriptions if you're watching on Boxee / PS3 / Wii or whatever. That said, whats the best platform to use?

Thanks.

How many devices can share a game centre subscription? Can I have it going on my apple tV and ps3 at the same time?

I'd like to know if it just flat out works in Calgary since we're in a region serviced by Sportsnet One, TSN, CBC with Flames games. I need my fix. But I guess in a crunch, I could just hang out at Shanks North or some pub.

You won't get Flames games in Calgary on Center ice. They are blacked out.
