I'm not much of a photographer at all, so not looking to spend very much, I just need something that will give me focused pictures, and fit in my pocket. Don't need a huge zoom or anything like that. Any recommendations? Is it common in ~150$ camera's for the focus to be as brutal as I speak of, or did I get unlucky with my camera selection?
Thanks

Yeah, Sanyo makes ass cameras unfortunately.
For point and shoots, I have always sworn by Fuji stuff. I have a Fuji F20 that is an amazing low light camera, shoots up to ISO 2000 which is not common with PAS cameras, at least back in 2006. I would look at something on clearance from the previous year, that has an ISO rating of at least 1600 if low light is important to you. You should be able to find something for $150 that fills your needs without being a hunk of crap.
dpreview.com will have an excellent review of anything you are considering.
The other option is you could just jump in with both feet, and get the Fuji X100 for a mere $1200 and take flawless pictures with what is turning out to be the best reviewed PAS ever:
