Nope, not at all. Like you said, you paid $600 for a device in which your primary UI is a touchscreen. In my opinion, if that screen has ANY kind of blemish upon opening, it goes back. Two dust particles, no matter how small, would drive me bonkers. Exchange on, brother!

I cant anymore, future shop gave me 3 exchanges. It would have to be through the apple store but even then i dont know if i wanna bother anymore cause i could be going through 4 or 5 more!
I called apple and told the supervisor and asked for compensation and he said he cant send me a free ipad (which i was wanting) and said he is sending me a free leather smart cover (which ill resale) and said for me to 1) take it to apple store and if they can inspect it and agree the 2 dust particles and 1 blue stuck pixel will harm the ipad they will swap it. Or 2) they can send me a box to send mine back and the techs there will inspect it and do the same thing.
But i dont think theyre going to see 1 blue stuck pixel and 2 dust particles as a hardware problem so i feel i should just live with this one.

All the flyers for this week show the Playbook selling for $198-$199.99 at Walmart, Future Shop and Staples.
A couple of co-workers have bought a Playbook already cause they think the stores are going to run out of stock. They will go back and get the price adjusted on the weekend.

For those of you who might be waffling, the Playbook is awesome! I love mine and use it all the time. If you really like apps and such you might be a little disappointed for the time being, but if you have a blackberry phone you really won't regret it!

I posted this in the Android thread, but it's probably better suited here.
The Asus EEE Transformer Prime is coming out next month! It will be running the Tegra 3 quad core chip (Tegra 3 actually has 5 cores) and a 12-core Nvidia GPU, and will be running on Android 4.0 ICS. 12 hour battery life without the keyboard dock, running 720p video the whole time!
The 64 GB model should be about $750 including the dock. I'm considering the 32 gb version though for $650.. I'll just throw an SD card in for extra storage if needed!

At the $200 price point I think it's pretty close between the Fire and the Playbook. With the Fire's access to the Android Market it wins in the apps department, but right now it only has access to the Amazon Apps market with a hack required to access the full Android Market. I have no faith that all of the media content features of the Fire will ever reach Canada.
The Playbook has HDMI, USB, 2 cameras, GPS, and at least double the storage. I guess it depends on what is important to you in a tablet. I've fiddled around with one and it seems pretty good as just a multimedia player and casual internet browser.

If you're lookin at the Amazon Fire, another option is Kobo's Vox. Same price point and it's also Android based. I'm not the biggest techie, but I'm liking mine. Similar to the Fire, I don't think you can get all the apps the Android Market has available, but there's a good selection (I don't have/use a ton/know all that's out there, so your opinion may vary). But, I keep my use of the Vox pretty simple...ereading, surfing the internet a bit, and the odd game here and there.
When it comes to content like ebooks, music, etc, is where the Vox has a big advantage, as you're not limited to where you get your content from, as you are with the Fire.

You've got a Vox? Have you used other tablets before? I'd like to know how it compares - I've heard nothing but negative reviews on the Vox so far.

What's Future Shop's policy on tablet returns? Really interested in checking out a $200 Playbook but I'd like to take it back if it totally sucks.

I know that you could do this at Staples. I bought one right when it came out and returned it within 14 days.

No idea.
Personally I'm going for the Nook Color because I can root it and get access to all the apps I want.
But the Kindle Fire, with all its access to everything Amazon has to offer is pretty cool. Provided it will be available in Canada at some point.

Ah, didn't even realize that.
Tough choice then. I can get a brand new Nook Color for $180 right now, but I like what the Kindle has to offer.

There's also the choice of the Nook Tablet (identical to the Nook Color which I have, except with dual core processor, more ram, better graphics chip), spec wise they are almost identical, but the Nook tablet has an external SD slot.

Is that even neccessary? I thought I read somewhere that there's a setting built right in that you can flip on to allow apps to be loaded from anywhere - I swear I read reports of people doing this and downloading Android market apps.
Unless there's other alterior motives, but I'm one of those pansy goody-two-shoes iPad users that just buys apps

Nope.
Pretty sure the OS is so heavily modified that you can't access the Android marketplace.
Amazon is trying to get people to buy everything from them in order to justify losing money on the actual sale of the device.
Its a great idea, IMO. They are perfectly setup to make it work.
