Raiding is not too easy if you're doing 25 man hard modes. I would argue that T11 in general was overtuned and heroic Ragnaros was the hardest boss ever before the first nerf.

It has gone down hill for raiding. The leveling and questing experience has gotten better, but there are only so many toons I want to level before I want incredible end game stuff too.
Define best? Did they improve things like questing and interfact? Yeah 100%. But lore wise, raiding wise and PvP wise the same problems remained. Lore was stale and dumb, that pushed people away. Raiding was still overly easy, with nerfs to bosses coming through the pipe within weeks of being dropped, and PvP was still not totally balanced. That never affected me, but I know people that quit over it. Will it be a better leveling experience than TOR? Undoubtedly, but lightsabres will fix all ToR problems early on.
T
Intricate =/= Good.
The time commitment has gone down as raids get shorter an easier. I'm not pining for 40 mans, but I remember when Karazhan first dropped and you'd need to set aside a few LOOOONG nights to clear it. Now when a raid drops people clear it in a night. Just not hard. Also, dailies are a job. I did not buy WoW to do a job. Game. It's a game.
Just because the expansion isn't directly linked to anything you mentioned does not mean major content patches won't bring them into play. Burning Crusade was supposed to be about Illidan, but you end up getting Kil'Jaeden too.

Sorry Blaster but I don't even read your posts about WoW anymore. I'm not saying your thoughts are wrong but I always get the feeling you are just too far gone from having an unbiased opinion.

How cool would a Goblin Monk be? Especially if lots of backflips and flying roundhouse kicks are involved!

That's fine, but my problem with the hard modes was always timing. First finding a guild good enough to do them, then hoping the raid times matched up. Not the game's fault, but I would have liked an even hardness, no need for hardmodes.
Ragnaros can't be the hardest boss ever because their was a boss that was literally impossible. Not to say he wasn't hard, but hardest would be a stretch.

"tl;dr" would work better if you quote a massive post. Now I have to assume you read it!

Hardest possible boss then.
I'm also not a fan of hard modes, but it's what we've been given. I'm just of the opinion that a person hasn't cleared a raid until they've done it on hard.

Can't say I disagree.
I will be interested to see how TOR approaches difficulty at end game.

"Hard Modes" are what really killed it for me. Just never really liked the idea. I liked to beat the boss, not prove I could beat the boss with one arm tied behind my back, standing on one leg.

It was a way to give older players the difficulty that the game originally had.

As an older player (I started playing 5 months after they launched) I disagree that it was needed, then. I thought that the non-hard mode fights were just as tough/interesting as the the original stuff they trotted out. But...I'm not really that hard to please. and I'm a lore fan. So once I've beaten a boss a couple times, I don't 'need' to again. I'm not exactly Blizz's target demographic.

I'm kind of the opposite. The lore is only sort of interesting to me. I'm a hardcore completionist. More #### to do is both my bread and butter and the bane of my existence. I can't not go for achievements, and this new challenge system is another thing I'll just have to be the best at.
I was the 17th and last person in the world to complete every achievement in WotLK. Unfortunately, I do not think I'll be able to repeat that feat.

I'm just going to say that I'm glad I quit playing when I did.... and this info does absolutely nothing to come close to drawing me back to playing.

I wonder how true this is for a lot of people. I know that for myself, I was really interested in Cataclysm. Especially from a lore standpoint. Deathwing's out? Ragnaros is back? I was so interested that WoW managed to suck me back in for a 3 month period (about as long as I needed to do pretty much everything I wanted to get done).
But this? Pandas? I'm not even remotely interested.

You people need to realize that you're not the target market of this game anymore.

Are 12 year olds without credit cards really the target market, though?
I can't imagine that many parents would allow a $15/month charge just to play a video game + the money for the game with 4 expansions.
It's always wiser to keep your current customers than try and set up new ones. Especially an MMO with 4 expansions.

Actually, as I quit playing I am a target. Blizzard is trying to stem the loss of players they've been hit with since Cata dropped while also recouping lost players as well as adding new ones.

So, I'm not allowed to comment on my thoughts, then? I was their target demographic for some time. They were able to pull me back in for a few months to give Cata content a try through what looked to be (and was) interesting lore.
The announced expansion doesn't even draw any interest at all from me to give it a try. Given the amount of time I had sunk into the game (I think, all totaled up, my /played time was around 365 days...) you'd think that I would be the exact sort of person they'd want to try to hook back in. I clearly like what they have done in the past. You'll also note a couple of posts up, I straight up know that I'm not really their target demographic anymore.
But like another poster, I have to wonder what their choice "target demographic" IS. It can't be new players anymore. Look at the startup cost:
WoW Battle Chest - $20US you get Vanilla WoW and TBC (not bad, actually)
The Wrath of the Lich King - $40 US
Cataclysm - $40 US
So right there, before you can even really start playing, you need to fork over $100, and that's not including monthly game time and the soon-to-be-needed new xpack, which is likely to retail for around $40.
That's a hefty chunk of change for a new player to cough up to play.
You'd think they'd be going after old customers with great gusto, and trying to keep every single one they've got.

Not to mention the vanity pets and mounts they sell now.
I read on gaming forum a while back that statistically, the average age of a MMORPG is 24-27 or something like that, meaning that there are probably a lot players older and younger than that as well. The most vocal and hardcore ones though seem to be teenagers. There is a reason why Blizzard made so many changes to appeal to more casuals. People in their mid-20s do not tend to have the time needed to compete in the game and were dropping out.
