The head of the rebels said on Al Jazeera that Gadhafi is dead.

Apparently an airstrike on a vehicle convoy in Sirte was responsible.

Al Jaz are saying he was alive when captured, but now he's dead.
Bit of a crappy day for him.

Good news. Hopefully the fighting in Libya can finally end and people can start returning to their normal lives. Sadly though Gaddafi's family as already made off with the country's treasury.

Some reports say he got shot in the legs attempting to escape after his initial capture and he bled out. Crappy day indeed.

I would have prefered that they capture him alive so that he could be the recipiant of a proper trial for all of the stuff that he's done while in power.
But I certainly won't shed any tears now that he's dead.

I thought there were news reports awhile ago that Ghadafi fled to a neighbouring country. Guess not........it was only a matter of time for him.
Good thing this "humanitarian" disaster is over. Libya is in ruins and now western trans-national corporations are rubbing their hand together....kind of like this.
Something tells me that for Libyans, the new boss will be much the same as the old boss.

I always thought he'd have a good comeback story as a talk show host in the USA. Alas.

A stable Libya is very important economically to Europe, which of course has ripples around the globe. Having free elections would be nice, but I wonder how "free" they will be. The West will definitely want a "yes-man" in there.

There's tons of videos of Qaddafi's dead body out there. Just look for them, NSFW.
Kinda disappointed he did not get captured alive and stand trial or suffer the imprisonment and indignations make of his people had to suffer through during his regime.

I wonder if the remaining loyalists will give up and melt away now.

I certainly hope so otherwise it the war could become even more bloody and drawn out if it turns into some kind of insurgency. But this doesn't seem likely since their leader is dead and nothing like Al-Qaeda is around to run the thing.
Then again, most people thought incorrectly resistance would melt away when Tripoli fell.

Minor missed detail given the skill of some of those NTC fighters.

There weren't that many loyalists left anyway. Most of the pro-Qaddafi fighters were mercenaries he hired from sub-Saharan Africa.
