Go to the Real sports bar, which is directly infront of the ACC.
Best sports bar in north america (for a hockey game) well that's what the claim, and from my limited experience, i fully agree. You might need to book in advance.

It's a great place to watch NFL as well. The place gets packed pretty quick so make a reservation or go really early.
Walk around Leslieville and hope to walk past the crazy lady who screams curses at random people passing by.
Walk around The Beach and keep an eye out for the guy who shuffles along finger shooting people that pass by him.
Some of the Indian restaurants on Gerard are worth checking out, same for Danforth which has a variety of ethnic places including Greek and Turkish. Lots of interesting characters around there too.
It costs an arm and leg to get into Casa Loma so I would recommend avoiding it. Yonge is worth a stroll but I would avoid Spadina AKA China town because it is one of the worst areas to walk around, its more of an obstacle course.
I've been here three years and have still only seen a fraction of what the city has to offer. Oh and if you don't like hipsters stay away from Queen West between Yonge and Ossington.
