Haha, if find it funny how impatient we've all become.
PVR's make it so we can flip through about 2-3 minutes of commercials in a about 10-15 seconds, yet we still complain lol.

I have to say, anyone who is bored by a subplot where a mother is missing her 12 year old daughter in zombie-infested forests is not a parent.
I thought the first episode was great--I can't wait for the next one.

I really enjoyed the premier and I hate to bring it up again, but the acting in this show is terrible. Andrew Lincoln is awful, I'm only singling him out because he's the protagonist, but everyone is fairly bad. The only two people that are half-way decent are the Asian kid and Darryl.
Seems odd to bitch about the acting in a zombie show, but the entire point of The Walking Dead is character driven and what people would do/how they'd react, so you need strong actors and this show has none.
The zombie effects are top-notch though. I was going to say special effects in general, but that explosion in season 1 was laughable.

The zombies sneaking up on them was kind of funny too. The guy on top of the Winnebago didn't notice them? he could see down that road for miles. Reminded me of the Holy Grail when the guy was running across the field to attack the castle while the guards watched him.
|
I was wondering that too, but wasn't he mostly looking up the road as they had more or less just come from that direction, the direction the zombies were coming from. Not to mention they could've come out of the woods onto the road.
Anyone catch the "Talking Dead"? The talk show after the Walking Dead, they had the creator on there, albeit for a very short time, via satellite. He answered a couple of questions and what not.
Someone asked asked if the zombies can smell living things how can hiding under a car save them? His reply was they can tell there is a difference but they're not blood hounds, they don't track things by sniffing them out. Thought that was good clarification as I was wondering that myself.
Apparently it will be a regular feature every week.

Well, unless he was on top of the Winnebago birdwatching with the binoculars, I think his job was to be lookout. Guess he was too lazy to look behind them.

I thought I read an article where Kirkman said the point of The Walking Dead comics was all about the characters. I could be wrong (I've only read the first issue, but know what happens later on), but that's what I read anyway.
My point is the acting shouldn't be so amateur, I expect more from AMC.

I'm kind of hoping that they kill off most of the cast and replace them with better actors. I think AMC has spoiled us with good actors like they have in Mad Men and Breaking Bad, so I expect a lot more from them. If this were just another network drama, it wouldn't be so much of an issue.

It's funny. I have seen a couple of people post in this thread and complain about the acting. Normally I am one for picking out bad acting and basically shutting a show off that annoys me this way, but TWD doesn't bother me in the least when it comes to acting. I just don't see what other people see when it comes to this show I guess. I find it just fine. Don't know what it is.

The comics are all about the characters, Kirkman has mentioned this numerous times. I have read almost every issue out, and you definitely see some interesting characters that develop- I really hope that some of them appear in the show. That being said, I'm not sure if the show is trying to take the same direction with the characters; the story line from the comics isn't exactly being followed.
I'm enjoying the show though- I love me a good Zombie kill.

Can someone tell me how all these zombies came to be? I'm not familiar with this storyline. How did most of the population become zombies?

Well, the thing is, we can't really tell you without massive spoilers. Quite a ways into the comics, they get into what happened and how it happened.

Saw a commercial for TWD last night and it was basically a preview of next weeks episode. More or less showed how/who the kid got shot and his status. So at least I know that much already.

Just started watching the new show and I have just realized they are all still wearing the same clothes since the beginning. Man they must reak. At least break into a mall to get new clothes you stinky non zombies.

Have to say, haven't been blown away by the first two episodes this season. A lot of running around in circles.
And yeah, totally agree with the comments on how the 'herd' of zombies wasn't spotted earlier. What's the point of having lookouts if 300 or so zombies can creep up to within 100 metres of you in an area where you can see for miles? Great job looking out there! Of course that seems to be a problem with horror themed shows and movies in general. And it works the opposite way, like in the second episode where the group is all walking back to the road together, and then all of a sudden Blondie (I wish I could remember most of their names) is far enough away from the group to be attacked by herself, with the others a little too far away to help her easily. Distance and time get screwed with a lot in horror pieces.
As for the girl character I almost wonder if the whole plot surrounding her was started because something happened to her as an actress. Laws for kids starting in shows and movies are strict, and sometimes you have to write around them when they can't be on set.

Yeah, that part kinda bugged me too. I was pretty sure they were all walking together in a group, then the walker comes out and inexplicably the rest of the group is suddenly half way across the forest and can't help her.

Absolutely, I understand...just trying to make some sense of it myself I suppose. But if everyone did their job properly there'd be no show.
