Biggest mistake I made my first trip to TO was planning to visit the HHOF when it opened on a weekend (10:00am or 11:00am cant remember) and then going to the Jays game nearby at 1:00.

When it came to 12:45 and we had to go to the Jays game, I hadnt even seen half of the HHOF.

If you are any kind of hockey fan at all, and you have never been there, I would suggest the better part of a full day at the HHOF so you can see everything.

Wayne Gretzky's is a good sports bar and is walking distance from there.

There is a chain of restaurants called St. Louis bar and grill. Great chicken wings, there are dozens of locations around southern Ont.

I can agree that if you're a hockey fan, the HHOF is pretty much a day trip. My dad and I pretty much spent the whole day there before dinner and a Leafs game. I had no idea there was that much stuff there!

HHOF is pretty sweet. If you hungry you should eat at the restuarant above the HHOF. It's like this market type thing where they give you a card and you go around to different booths set up and get there food. It's pretty tasty and not that expensive.

visit church-wellsley village

when you go to the HHOF, make the effort to get there a soon as it opens - you can usually see more stuff that way.

Casa Loma is cool and I have not done this, but I beleive that you can take tours of the ACC or Rogers Ctr.

There are lots of cool little pubs downtown

The Science Ctr and the ROM can also be interesting

Be advised: that restaurant gets very busy. My wife and I tried to eat there twice when we were in Toronto last year and both times we had to skip it because we wouldn't have made it out in time for our shows.

I'd love to get some suggestions for Toronto as well... except I'm travelling with a toddler. HHOF might be a bit slow. Science centre is probably good. Any other kid-friendly activities?

The Toronto Zoo is always a hit with younger people. You could try that.

+1 for Casa Loma, although if you're in class until 5:00, that doesn't really leave you with a lot of time for sightseeing and other touristy stuff.

Not sure what you mean by slow... there is lots to see at the HHOF, and interactive exhibits for both kids and adults (maybe too old for a toddler though).

Toronto FC game
Blue Jays
Hockey Hall of Fame
Real Sports bar across from the ACC
Royal Ontario Museum
Casa Loma
CN tower
Walk around the Distillery District, go for a beer at Mill St. Get a hot chocolate at Soma, best you'll ever have. Also tons of nice shops and galleries.
Go for Greek food on the Danforth
Little Italy has awesome restaurants
Eat at the Dumpling House on Spadina. (amazing dumplings)
Bike around Toronto Island. (get there by ferry, rent a bike)
Check out the night clubs on Richmond St.
Get nachos at Sneaky Dee's. (Bathurst-College)
Burrito Boys (Burrito Banditos now) is my favourite place ever.
Do the Hippo Bus tour. Haha I see that thing go by my place all the time.
Go for a beer at the Bier Market (King-Portland or Esplanade). They have 100s of beers.
Historic Fort York.
Sit on the patio at the Black Bull. (Queen St).
Kensington Market on weekends
Lots of gourmet burger places. Craft burger and Gourmet Burger Co usually top the list.
Smoke's Poutinerie. Get the Montreal smoked meat one!
Get Roti at Ghandi Roti or West Island foods.

Mac here pretty much posted all of my recommendations

CN tower I think is something you can avoid. It's a taller version of the Calgary tower, nothing special in my opinion.

Kind of random, but I taken friends and family to check out Union station (the Southernest train station in downtown Toronto). It is Toronto's version of NY grand central station. From Union, you can walk to see the Fairmont York hotel, ACC, and CN tower

imo, I wouldn't say that Toronto is known for a particular type of cuisine (ex. Calgary you would want to get steak for example), but rather the sheer variety of cuisine you can get. For Greek, you go to Greek town which is along the Dansforth (Bloor - Chester area). There is little Italy and little Portugal. For Chinese food, realistically the best food is in Markham and Richmond Hill where all the Asians live but that might be too far to cab. Toronto has 2 Chinatowns, but honestly not that much different from Calgary's, just bigger.
In general, because there is so much competition between restaurants that most restaurants are quite good. The bad ones go out of business

If you are interested in high end shopping, or want to pick up something nice for a SO, the fanciest street is along Bloor and Avenue road (Yorkville district). It's where all the high end shops for clothese and other luxury items are located (ie Tiffany's). There is also a nice raw bar/French bistro across from the Hermes there that's pretty good.

I'll post more when I think of anything else

Also be warned, Toronto is pretty high about their team right now. There is a lot of leafs talk around town. Making me jealous

The Big Slice on Yonge Street is a good place for pizza. We met a guy at the UFC Fan Expo who recommended we try it before we left. Very good pizza and not expensive at all.
