How Does the Hologram Work?
The thin polyester film hologram is programmed through a proprietary process, which is designed to mimic Eastern philosophies that have been around for hundreds of years
This actually made me laugh out loud. Good grief, I can't believe these companies get away with selling this junk.
Amazing how your problems sleeping went away when you decided to cut ties with regular ethics. I especially loved the part where you brag about bilking both children and the elderly. Nice touch.

What someones pays for something and then turns around and sells it for is really not relevant. Out costs are far more than what you state here, then we had on overhead, sales commission, shipping/receiving, advertising and our warranty. Obviously, we do end up with a profit! I hope that is OK??? I assure you it is not 10-20 times our money though! That is not how this business works!
I use to work at a major electronic store and they bought speakers for 50.00 that retailed for $500.00. Real Estate Developers build something for $100.00 a square foot and sell for $350.00 a foot. Its called free enterprise.
We do not make medical claims and NEVER will. People are more than welcome try the bracelet or not - this is their decision.
I will let you all carry-on your thread!
For the owners of Power Balance, the profit is likely closer to 1000-2000%. Salesmen down the line don't make as much but that's how it works and it likely operates on a pyramid scheme type organization also in recruiting the lower tier sellers of the product. If anything, I'm shocked that pyramid/MLM companies like Amway don't have their own version of this yet. It's a cash cow.
I don't know where you got the idea that I am saying that free enterprise is bad, I'm just pointing out how much profit is being made on these and if you are in on it, well, you should be making money.
Five years and millions of wristbands later, Power Balance™ and founders, Troy and Josh Rodarmel have single-handedly defined the “Performance Technology” category and redefined the sports accessories market. From thousands of professional athletes to millions of aspiring amateurs, weekend warriors and active consumers, Power Balance™ has become a brand as powerful as the athletes who wear its products. Born in concept from ancient health and wellness practices and wrapped in a modern holographic form, Power Balance™ stands out among its many imitators as “The Original” sports performance wristband. No other Performance Technology accessory on the market can match the roster of hundreds of top professional athletes (and growing!) and millions of satisfied customers all over the world.

Improved Balance

Helps Provide Resistance To Infection/Bacteria

Of course the generous usage of the word "may" somehow changes all of these things from claims into.. well into what precisely?

The [removed] Bracelet assists in regulating your body’s frequency to an optimal level.
How is that frequency measured, and what is the optimal level?
Even by random chance with no placebo, if you sell 1000 bracelets, by chance some will feel better after wearing it, some will feel worse, and some won't feel anything. Hence the large pool of people willing to give a positive review.

Don't the marketing claims about releasing large amounts of negative ions violate thermodynamics? Where are the negative ions coming from? Is their supply unlimited? It's funny how a product marketed as something that creates "balance" should eventually reach an equilibrium where it should no longer have any effect if there is no input into the system.
Representing that goods or services are of a particular standard, quality, grade, style or model if that representation is untrue
The UK has an interesting model going on I've been reading snippets about, they have an independent organization which people can report sites making unwarranted claims and such, and the organization actually has some bite and these vendors have been compelled to change their sites.
You are right though it's a tough question sometimes, but I think the consumer should have some expectation that what they're buying is something beyond the rock that keeps the tigers away.

Or that scalar energy's secret died with Tesla and is only now being rediscovered by scientists, but can me manufactured for pennies in China.

I'm going to start marketing quantum bracelets that allow the user to automatically slip into the most favorable quantum universe or at least helps them avoid the most unfavorable quantum states. AKA a GOOD LUCK CHARM.

Make bracelets that allow electrons at higher energy spin states to efficiently return to low energy spin states. AKA harmonius with nature.
Placebo Bands are now available in our not for profit store http://skepticbros.com/store/. Here are some tips, tricks and the invaluable FAQ for the Placebo Band!
I saw here in Iceland Power Bands was selling pink ones for a cancer charity.
Sure thats nice they are helping fight cancer, but lets see they are giving roughly $5 of a $40 piece of plastic to charity.
Or people could just donate directly with your favorite cancer charity and not walk around with a band that tells others you are into trends and suffer from a streak of gullibility.
Like West Karma said above, I wonder if they feel more motivated to donate to charity based on the shadyness of the product. I mean damn you have karma in your user name, that must be difficult considering you have a product with zero evidence and many ridiculous claims which some defy the laws of nature.
I said jokingly in my original post that I should stop trying to educate people and just come up with something like this on my own, but honestly at the end of the day I can't ethically do it. It bothers me on such a deep level to be dishonest and be aware of what is going on with these scams.
I bet that's why those decent people involved with products such as this really strain to find reasons to justify what they are doing and try to justify what most of us clearly recognize as a scam when the best those selling this can do is say "but people tell us it works."
Oh big placebo, you sneaky sneaky nemesis.

I already think that even advertisments and labeling get away with too much, never mind stunts like these. But it's just the world we live in, and it's probably more fair than it was years ago. The important thing as a consumer is to take everything with a massive grain of salt and understand that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
EDIT, as for how they work I think it's more the showmanship of the guy helping you out. IE pulling you in subtly, but importantly, different ways. Even different strengths. Yes there is a placebo effect IE the true meaning of the term placebo effect, not the company name or anything to do with the product) and yes a person is going to be more ready the second time, but I think most of it is in the guy doing the demonstration. Just like the old times shills and their wares from a bygone era.

Legally, I believe it brings it into the realm of puffery. One of my favorite legal terms, if my least favorite practice. West Karma needs to give his head a shake. "It's all okay that we're making stuff up to sell things as long as we're not forcing you to buy something." I've got a used car I'd like to sell West Karma. It may have a built in time-machine that may run on plutonium or lightning bolts.
