If anyone wants to import a character into ME2 (or ME3 when it's released) but don't have your old save file, you can download one from www.masseffectsaves.com. They have enough user-uploaded save files to cover just about every permutation of choices you could have made.

This is only for the PC version, of course.

Just the part in ME2, or whether or not you got the DLC as well?

Play it again? I plan too just before the release.

I'm thinking I might at least play the first one again before 3 comes out (the main storyline at least) just to remember what happened in that game.

Playing through ME2, characters keep referring to events that I don't recall at all.

in most cases i'm in the same boat when it comes to game sequels, but Mass Effect sucked me in so bad that i probably played through the original a dozen times over just to try and see all the different paths and outcomes. i know the events of the main plot and most side missions by heart now

Just the part in ME2

I don't consider the DLC to be canon because not everyone got it.

Things that I would have liked to see in the Mass Effect series

1) Let Sheppard act like a real ships Captain. It would have been cool to plan approaches to some of these bases if they were defended. or command the ship under fire.

2) Have a mission where Joker gets hurt and you suddenly have to fly the Normandy. Or take the gunners station in a battle.

3) Be able to call in orbital bombardment

4) Be able to set your sniper better. Stop him when he gets into view of an enemy base or go up on a balcony in a mission and snipe.

5) Be able to punch joker in the shoulder affectionitly and accidently break every bone in his body.

6) Bring back the armoured vehicle, but be able to leave crewmembers in it to provide fire support.

7) Have a motar expert on your team that can set up on a hilltop in outdoor missions and be able to call in light arty, or illumination in night missions.

8) Ambush tactics that work, be able to camp along a main route and wait for the enemy to come to you.

9) Have actual open rebellion among your crew because there's no way that your choices can please them on.

10) Have a real moral dilema scenario where there are civillian npc's in a battle area and if you decide to not kill them you could possibly lose team members. A city battle where its not just your team vs the enemy team. They could have done it in ME2 when you went after whats his face.

They tried this in ME2 (Jack vs. Mirranda, Tali vs. Legion), but you could easily still please everyone if your Renegade or Paragon score was high enough. Same with Wrex in ME1.

They also sort of tried this in the Zeaed (sp?) DLC addon. In his loyalty mission, you're in a burning refinery chasing after a man Zeaed has been hunting for years. You can choose to save the refinery workers, but doing so means the target escapes and Zeaed is pissed. As with the other examples above, though, you can still win his loyalty by simply passing a Paragon/Renegade check. Part of me wishes BioWare hadn't chickened out and made your choice here (and in the above Tali/Legion/Jack/Mirranda scenarios) have a real consequence on how the game played out. One of the best parts of ME1, in my opinion, is that there was no way to save both Ashley and Kaiden; no matter what you did, one of them is guaranteed to die. It really added an emotional weight to your decisions.

Actually despite my best efforts, I have been unable to get the DLC for ME1 or ME2. EA won't let me set up an account.

As I recall, the switch from Steam to EA really f***ed up getting/using the DLC. You are able, but there are some pretty impressive hoops to jump through.

Sorry, it's been quite a while since I had to jump through these hoops. Basically, you have to get EA's version of "steam". I think it's called "Origin" or some such. Then, find the DLC through that (I think it gets them through steam...?). Then, keep Origin running in the background while you play ME or DA so that your copy stays 'authenticated' properly.

Sorry my memory is so fuzzy, I don't tend to bother much with DLC. I imagine you can hit the Bioware forums for someone who can explain it better than I have.

I lent my brother Mass Effect 2 and he returned it to me after a day because he didn't like it.

We may still be brothers, but we are no longer friends.
